By Chance!
Last week, while spending a week in Shropshire on holiday, we ventured to Shrewsbury by bus (fortunately) as we were celebrating our first wedding anniversary.
We happened upon the market where we enjoyed oysters and a glass of prossecco literally at a fish stall (!) then ventured out to explore the streets.
With tired limbs we happened upon Morgan's - a large old building but tastefully modernised. Sinking into a large sofa in the quiet bar with a pitn of real ale our minds wandered to lunch. We'd planned a lunch at the nearby Loch Fyne as we've always enjoyed the food at each of the restaurants we'd previously been to. But out of curiosity I delved into the Morgan's restaurant menu and spotted their daily special deal of "Three Tenners" - a choice of two starters, mains and deserts - any two courses for £10. We were sold on the choices and ventured forth.
We shared a creamy mushroom starter which was absolutely delicious, which is fortunate as we'd actually ordered the prawn cocktail! No complaints however!
Next I enjoyed a large homemade salmon, hake and chorizo fishcakes with "some chips" as they state on the menu. Delicious and more fish than potato. Wifey went for chicken breast with lovely creamy mash and a stunning white wine sauce. Really good with juicy meat and a fab sauce.
We polished off an amazing home made rasberry cheescake with a lovely torte sauce offsetting the sweetness of the cheesecake.
Very affordable too - two courses for two people and a bottle of wine - £30!
The young restaurant manager / waitress / administrator (yep one person was doing everything!) was amazing as she flitted from seating people, taking orders and shipping plates back and forth.
We will definately be returning.
