Amazing Cgi And Very Engulfing Human Aspect To The

AMAZING cgi and very engulfing human aspect to the story, especially the Marine fight sequences.

Some bold departures from the original cartoon storyline that paid off- megatron, not a gun, but a futuristic fighter jet(gen 2)

Bumblebee-a camaro, not a VW

the allspark?, no energon cubes, the ability of transformers to emulate other machines in their environment.

The special edition dvd offers A LOT of special, behind the scene action and shows just how hard it was to make this movie.

As I Was Watching The Movie Transformers, It Took

As I was watching the movie Transformers, it took me back to being a kid again watching the cartoon. Seeing the autobots and deceptacons transforming for the first time made me feel 8 all over again. The action is faced paced although the fight scenes between the robots did get hard to follow at some places and were a little too blurry in a sense. However this does not take away from the movie and the addition of some comedy moments especially when they were hiding from Sam's mum and dad was funnier than I thought it would be. They have kept the core of the cartoon here and the fact that optimus prime sounds how he does in the cartoon was perfect in my opinion. This is not a complex, clever or thought provoking movie, what it is, is a fast paced summer blockbuster you can just sit back and let yourself be immersed into the film. This is to me what a summer blockbuster is all about. The human actors are portrayed well and the dialog does not come across cheesy and works well.My only complaint is that optimus seemed weaker than he should have been and this made it a little bit annoying but its only a small minor complaint. If you loved the cartoon then you will love this.

I Was Kind Of Disappointed As I Expected It To Be

I was kind of disappointed as I expected it to be more of a film for the grown ups (considering we are the ones who actually remember what Transformers was!), but it is actually a film for the kiddies.

Where I was expecting a more futuristic, action flick... it's more of a buddy movie(the boy and the robot develop a bond) for kids, with a fair few comical one liners thrown in.

OK, if you are 10 years old!

The Year Was 1987. I Remember Sitting Down In The

The year was 1987. I remember sitting down in the cinema, with my friend and his mum and I watched Optimus Prime die. His life force faded away before my 7 year old eyes, and his words have stayed with me ever since: "Do not grieve. Soon I shall be one with the matrix."

I have waited 20 years, almost to the day, to be able to sit down in the cinema and watch a big-rig turn into the leader of the Autobots. Hearing those first words from Peter Cullen (the voice of Optimus, both old and new) meant it was SO worth the wait.

Let me get one thing straight... this is a movie about robots beating each other up. It is the greatest movie about robots beating each other up. EVER. The Director, Michael Bay, has made the best use of CGI in a live action film to date. The interaction between the Transformers and the rest of the movie is seamless. This is why Transformers is the film of the year. The viewer is made to feel like it would be odd without the Autobots and Decepticons flying around the Arizona desert.

Some changes had to be made to accommodate the scale of the characters. For example, anyone who is familiar with the original series will know that somehow, Megatron (the leader of the Decepticons) would magically turn into a hand-held pistol. Because 40 foot robots can do that in a cartoon. In the movie, he has been reinvented as the biggest of the robots, and can now turn into a flying plane... thing. All the Autobots and some of the Decepticons have become shameless plugs for the ailing GMC. Somehow, this sorta works, giving an up-to-date feel to the characters. There is a slight nod to the originals when Bumblebee parks up next to an old, yellow beetle in the car lot.

The casting in the movie was a bit hit and miss. Most of the actors were well placed and hearing the opening crawl is enough to make any certified child of the 80s feel the hairs on the back of their neck stand up. The biggest mistake was casting Australian actress Rachael Taylor (complete with native Oz accent) as an NSA Signals expert.

I have now seen this movie twice and have slotted it firmly in my top 5 movies, just below the original. It helps that I have an Unlimited card! If you were born between 1975 and 1983 or like big robots and cars, you would be crazy to miss out on this.

Helen of Troy

Excellent Review.

My older sons are now in their twenties, one of them came with us when I took my nine year old to see this film. It is all fairly new to the young one but he sat there totally riveted, explaining who each of them were when we asked! So great for newer young fans too! And their mums and dads!

Great movie. Actually had a good storyline. I figured Transformers to be a menage of CGI strung together by a lame storyline. Boy was I wrong!!

This movie wont win any major awards, but the entertainment value is a 10 of 10.
