Dark Water Was A Total Let Down! The Adverts For I
Dark Water was a total let down! The adverts for it looked good, but they were misleading. This is a "horror" film, but it is totally not scary. Myself and my mates hated it! This is a movie to avoid!
I Saw Dark Water The Other Day, And Have To Confes
I saw Dark Water the other day, and have to confess I was very disappointed.
It stars Jennifer Connelly and starts off well enough. A divorcee and her daughter move into a cheap apartment inside an old apartment block. The hole of an apartment they move into is a bit of a state and has a leak from the ceiling. After a series of strange events, the flat upstairs seems to have a strange flood which is explained away by the maintenance staff with a series of poor excuses.
Meanwhile, the little girl slowly starts to lose the plot and begins a friendship with an imaginary friend. Is the little tyke delusional or is there something in it? Well if you want to watch this film I won't spoil the surprise for you.
There is also added subplot of Connelly's character going through a divorce and the ensuing custody battle. All in all, the main terror is supposed to be derived from the spooky goings on in the apartment block and the little girls breakdown, but neither really scare or capture the imagination.
This film is not helped by the ridiculous finale/explanation of events, and I'm sorry to say I can't recommend it. The plot is simply what lets this film down, despite a good premise and some superb actors - Connelly, John C. Reilly, Pete Posthlewaite and Dougray Scott, this film still comes up well short of being any good.
Overall I'd have to say that Dark Water is a real Damp Squid.
