Nabucco was first performed in 1842. The opera is set in Jerusalem at 600 B.C. The story is set around King Nabucco who keeps the Israelites imprisioned under his strict reign in Jerusalem.
The love story of the opera is centred around Nabucco's daughter Fenena who is in love with Ismaele, son of the King of Jerusalem.
Tragedy, betrayal and long-hidden secrets but most of all the fate of the Israelites is the basis of the story.
Nabucco is one of Italy's best-loved operas and 'Va Pensiero' in the third act, has established itself as the secret Italian national anthem.
Beautifully set in the Arena of Verona, the opera offers amzing sceneries under clear night skies. Prices for tickets vary from about 25 Euros to 200 Euros which should be in everyone's range if a visit to the Arena is on the agenda.
The performers and the venue are world class which makes the visit unforgettable and also makes you want to return year after year.
