Consistently Good Quality

Always enjoy Empire magazine, reviews are great, if a little fawning over the studios. I like most of their features and it shows the amount that goes into it every month. THe podcast is good too.

Empire Is A Great Mag As The Critics Are Genuine F

Empire is a great mag as the critics are genuine film lovers, you can tell. Not like that guy that comes on radio one, what a moron! The reviews are done by fans of the genre they are reviewing, so you won't get a sci-fi fan dissing a period drama or a romcom lover ranting about an action film.

If you enjoy films and are fed up with idiot critics giving wrong reviews this is the mag for you, however just remember that reviews are usually written by fans of the genre - but then why would you be reading a review about another jayne austin novel conversion when you love vin diesel films?!

As with all magazines I do feel its over priced but thats why i cant wait for emags to take over!

I Love Movies, But Empire Magazine Is A Huge Disap

I love movies, but Empire Magazine is a huge disappointment. It really is just a promotional magazine.

Too many rubbish flicks and low on critique and opinion.

Any publication that lacks a proper editorial article has to be pretty suspect. Nothing about trends or state of the industry.

Nothing to promote or even highlight home grown products. I would also have issues with the number of ads, but in these harsh times it may be a good thing.

Why five stars? Well 5 is pretty poor, like a C minus grade; but with a bit of spit and polish it could be so much better.

There is much to like, lots of pages and colour pleasing to the eye. To hold it feels a quality product. I just wish it had a bit more brains to go with its looks.

Empire Is A Great Magazine And I Think Empire Revi

Empire is a great magazine and I think Empire reviews are the best if you want to get the inside track on the movie business.

The best bits include some of the superb interviews which are regularly featured, as well as the Hollywood movie news and previews. Empire reviews are this magazine's bread and butter and while I regularly disagree vehemently with them, I like to read them as they are always well constructed and offer a decent argument. However they often get it wrong and I have lost count of the amount of times I've seen decent films given 2 stars and complete dross awarded with a 4 star review. In fairness, they do admit when they get it wrong - Attack of The Clones or Alexander anyone???

Now onto the shortfalls. There are some lazy features, such as The Top 100 this or The Top 100 that, it starts to look like Channel Four on a Saturday night. The DVD section is also way too big and another easy way to fill pages, it should be much more concise and the space it takes up should be used to showcase more original material.

All in all though, a stonking magazine, the best around by a mile and one which you should give a try!

The Best Film Magazine Around, Empire Is Packed Fu

The best film magazine around, Empire is packed full of information, reviews and interviews. It clearly has a good reputation in the film industry (just look at the people who sent it birthday congratulations in issue 180) which means it often bags exclusives and very frank interviews.

The reviews are excellent, striking just the right balance between fan-boy excitement and enjoyment and film critic cynicism. I always turn to Empire first, and even if I don't always agree with what they say, I know I'll get a well thought out difference of opinion.

There are also a number of other features, including a large section devoted to reviewing new videos and DVDs (including the DVD extras) and each month an essay on a variety of different subjects.

The only sad thing is that it seems to have lost something of its sense of humour over the years (I suspect due to the loss of one writer). Nevertheless, it's still the best magazine on the market and I wouldn't miss an issue.
