Nick Cave: "into My Arms" One Of My Fav
Nick Cave: "Into My Arms"
One of my favourite songs and one of a number of excellent Nick Cave piano ballads. Written in a church yard in Surrey, England after hearing a preacher's sermon, the song celebrates the gentle, exquisite bliss of newly aquired or re-acquainted love. The idyllic setting of the church yard reflected in the peace of the music. The words are unusual as is the meter, not an uncommon trait with Nick Cave's work, and the gentle swells and sways of both piano and vocal lines echo the breaths of nervous excitement when in the company of a newfound love. For me, it is on of Nick Cave's finest songs, from one of his best albums.
