I Bought The Raison Silver Valve Trombone. It Is V
I bought the Raison silver valve trombone. It is very hard to play. You have to lip most of the notes and the range is horrible. I had the tuning slide almost all the way out and still was out of tune. I ended up buying a Cecilio "SUPER BONE" on ebay for $549. although this not a professional horn, it plays well the price is right and I love it. I play in my church orchastra every week so I get alot of use out of the horn. I would highly recommend this horn for the beginning and intermediate player. The Raison horn now hangs on the wall in my music room as a wall orniment because I didn't want to resell it to a student. I guarentee that if you buy this horn for a beginning student, he or she will never end up playing the trombone. The horn is that bad.....do not waste youe $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

After a month, I am delighted with my euph. The technique is coming back. No more issues have come up. Everything works fine. I send this second review because the happiness of having something new may wear off, but the happiness of playing a fine instrument goes on and on. If you have heard warnings about "cheap third-world knockoffs", rest easy - unless you plan to spend 5000 US$ you won't get much better than Raisons' $250 horn.

A good beginners instrument. Overall I like the instrument. If you are on a budget it's fine, we can't all afford the big names.

The Raison Band Instruments Company 3-valve Euphon
The Raison Band Instruments Company 3-valve Euphonium is one of those incredibly inexpensive items from India that are available on eBay. Local band store experts tell me the valves will probably not last more than 6 months. But if you pay around US $150 for the horn, you've saved money over renting, and after 6 months can almost literally toss it away (or use it as a wall decoration) just at the point you'd want to consider a 'serious' instrument.
