I Purchased A Used Peavey Escort Portable Pa Syste
I purchased a used Peavey Escort Portable PA System a few months ago. The system was only 1 year old when I purchased it for 300.00. I have used it 6 times as a Karaoke DJ. There is nothing I dont like about this system. I added a Powered Home Theatre Subwoofer, which added bigtime to the sound. Even though its only 150 watts, its perfect for small functions (Cafe, Small Bar, Or Livingroom)In a karaoke setting, this system should be good enough for a 1000 sqft room. I do recomend adding a powered subwoofer, which you can come off one of the RCA outputs.
Very clean sound with each channel having reverb controls. On a scale of 1 to 10 for a small portable system, I rate it a 10.

You say its great for small bar/cafe do you think that would be the same for a band as well as a DJ? I'm the lead singer of a band and i've seen a second hand one of these in great nick and tempted to get it - just worried speakers not powerful enough for a band?

The Peavey Escort 2000 Is A Diminutive System Whic
The Peavey Escort 2000 is a diminutive system which would fit in the boot of the average hatchback car, and would get you through an acoustic gig, disco, conference or karaoke without much problem. It's clean, simple and effective at what it does, and is an ideal one box solution.
It would be very effective for keyboard monitoring, small gigs, monitor set-up for slightly larger gigs, or rehearsals and provided you don't expect too much out of it in the way of volume it would be a good purchase for any musician who needs a small PA.
The price is a slight issue - you can get far more watts per £, but the design is what makes the system worthwhile. It's definitely better than the Fender Passport as systems go, although the Yamaha Stage Pass is louder (and more boxes and doesn't come with stands!)
