Natural Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is my favourite, it's very smooth and tasty. It tastes great when you apply it to bread and eat it.

Best 100% peanut butter.

Fantastic natural peanut butter. It is normal for the peanut oil to rise to the top. Just give its quick stir. Tastes better and no nasties like the Sanitarium version.

We love the crunchy version. I prefer to buy the natural kind of peanut butter. The price is fabulous! They need to make a bulk size!

Aldi 'grandessa' Peanut Butter.

Aldi supermarket have reduced, i.e 'downsized' the size of (340 gram) jars of it's own brand 'Grandessa' (smooth) peanut butter. This was discovered after purchasing a jar of the product on 4 July 2017.

However it is still labelled as 340 gram, and still the same price 0.99 pence.

I wrote a letter to them about it and they replied by stating some gobbledygook about the jars conforming to an EU standard, relating to an average size of product over a range of the product.

And nothing about the actual issue of underweight jars of product being sold to the unsuspecting public.

That has the hallmarks of the modus operandi of a 'Rogue Trader'. Which is not regulated or policed properly as a consequence of the government's 'austerity measure' cuts in public spending; and local authority funding (consumer protection etc).

They have though reduced the size of the product, of the labeling, and the lettering. As compared to the original size previously sold.

The bar codes are entirely different between the two jars of product. The product purchased before 4 July 2017 has the bar code serial numbers: ALR 1410905 23171386.

The product purchased after 4 July 2017 has the bar code serial numbers: ALR 1410900 (L3990) 25235043.

I believe it is the case that the weight of the end product in the packaging should conform to the weight of contents listed on the packaging.

The matter has been made known to East Riding of Yorkshire Council who have not responded after a couple of weeks of waiting.

So now has been escalated to citizens advice. And if necessary to such as BBC 'Watchdog' et al. And to the national broadcast media, and press.

Because this is rather unacceptably anarchistic to my perception. And something needs to be done about it.

Since it is a common theme with Aldi supermarket.
