Awful Customer Service/deceitful Couriers
My husband has bought regular cases of wine from Laithwaites for quite a few years, however, over the last 6 months or so, there has been massive issues over deliveries going missing. Despite many emails,phone calls and online chats, there appears to be deceit either by Laithwaites, the courier companies or both.
When tracking the item that we requested to be delivered on a certain date, we can see where it is BUT then we get notified that either its been delivered (when its not!), attempted to be delivered but no one in(when we have been!), and one courier told us hadnt got it on board and must have not been loaded at the warehouse, and so on....
Today we got notified that the driver had attempted to re-deliver the box that didnt turn up on the allocated day of Monday, and was suposed to be redelivered Tuesday (but wasnt as got notification couldnt be delivered because of traffic!) They would reattempt today at 5pm but again we have been messaged that driver attempted to deliver but no one in!!! This is despite the instructions on the box to say where to leave it if not in, but we were! EVERY SINGLE TIME we have had this excuse, we've been in!
Interestingly we tracked this one again and it was sat at a village about 5 miles away for a long time, then the tracking disappeared and we got the message unable to deliver. (The tracking also mysteriously disappeared when they said it would be delayed due to traffic).
This is just a weeks worth of excuses, theres been previous incidents when its been excuses about where it is.
Have a feeling either the couriers are signing off on their handheld and punching in a made up reason for non delivery, then going home, possibly with a case of wine.
My husband has contacted Laithwaites every single time, spent hours on the phone or online,and been given the runaround and nothing has happened. Has now cancelled everything.

In September i joined an introductory wine club offer very reasonable case price about £86 plus decanter and glasses.Next case to be delivered in three months with a choice of change of selection deferment or cancellation, ( or so i thought).14th december £147 is taken from my account and a case is delivered.No notification or explanation. Contacted the company and said could not leave an email.Funny that it was the one they used to give me the offer in the first place.They agreed to collect as i said the case was too expensive and wished to have the choice and change my order.This they did.Case was collected 16th December.No refund so rang the next week.Told me confirmed case collected by courier and would have refund tomorrow as it was authorised.
I rang them again yesterday (29 th december) guess what.It will be 3 to5 WORKING DAYS to get the refund to my bank.On complaining that they were delaying they said the couriers had not returned it.Does that mean it is my fault.The case was returned unopened in good faith that i would be refunded.Sadly it has not happened yet.Sometime next year if they find it presumably. I now find that it must be returned to them before i can stop complaining about the poor service.Just not good enough Laithwaites.

Avoid These Time Wasters
Complete time wasters. I ordered from them a few months ago. The courier claimed they tried to deliver when they hadn’t. They promised delivery the following day. It didn’t turn up again so I cancelled the order.
Stupidly I gave them a second chance this week and exactly the same happened. Failed to deliver 2 days running despite phoning me this morning and promising it was on its way. Never again.

Absolutely shocking service. After experiencing a previous problem with my order I decided to try Laithwaites again. I order a case of 12 whites and also 12 reds. Delivery arrived today as planned after paying more for the chosen day. Only the case of reds arrived and no white wine. I have just called Laithwaites to be told that the order will be delivered in December as four if the 12 white wines are out of stock. What angers me is that Laithwaites take your order and money but don't even bother telling you the status of the order. It takes the customer to call to find out what is going on. I order lots of wine through the Wine Society and have never had one single problem. I will never use Laithwaites ever again.

Laithwaite's Customer Service Exceptional
The wines are amazing, the Laithwaite's customer service is out of this world great, the carriers are another story! Parcel Force failed to read my "If not in" instructions and promptly left with my case of wine. I had 9 people arriving for a dinner party that evening.
I called Laithwaite's customer services and was put through to a man who was very apologetic and said he would do everything in his power to get it redelivered. I didn't hold out much hope of this happening.
Parcel Force redelivered my wine at 5.36pm on the same day.
Well done to the person I spoke to, you are AWESOME!

I Originally Bought A Box Of Wine From Laithwaites
I originally bought a box of wine from Laithwaites in good faith, yes admittedly lovely wine, however months down the line you are in their ' Wine Club' without even accepting any commitment and then the fun starts !
I rang to cancel the Wine Club saying that I didn't want to be committed to buying their wine every month ( plus the wine starts to get more expensive !) I received an e mail agreeing to this.
Couple of weeks later courier arrives with a box of wine, I refused it, checked my credit card account and there was a pending amount of over £130 that Laithwaites were trying to take from me !
I contacted my credit card company and they are taking the responsibity to not let any payment to go through from them.
Yesterday, low and behold another box arrives, which the courier kindly took back with no fuss as he gets this problem all the time with Laithwaites.
Please don't start buying from Laithwaites unless you are happy to receive a box every month, it is one big hassle and I was never told that I would end up with a box on my doorstep every month

Ordered On Sat,arrived On Monday.
If the poor reviews were truthful its most unfortunate, however I cannot fault them as a new customer, ordered on Sat by phone, delivered on Monday,not opened a bottle so far, let the twelve botts rest a few days after journey.
Telephoned to thank them and make sure I wasnt on their list to recieve wine not ordered or wanted until it suits me.
Polite lady was charming and helpful to all my questions, I have no connection with this firm, and no problems.
Poor Customer Service At Laithwaites.
I have found their customer service good in the past. However my opinion has recently changed due to a huge mistake that has still not been put right. The error was on my part initially as I forgot to add the additional 3 bottles to my case which I had just ordered. As it was outside office hours I immediately email them asking that they add the bottles to my order. Nothing. I emailed them again and they apologised and said it was no problem and the 3 bottles would be added. Great I thought. Unfortunately wine arrived and no extra bottles. But they still emailed that they would add the 3 bottles which was impossible as case despatched and received. No comment from them regarding this. Right hand doesn't know what the left was doing. They could have sent the extra 3 bottles, add them to my next case something but nothing. I am so disappointed.
There is also a minor problem with the wine club. We don't like 15% wines. Told them this and they assured me that no more wines like that would be sent. This months wine club delivery came with 3 15% wines included. Let down again. What has happened at Laithwaites.
The night before delivery I get a robo call saying it would be delivered. I had to be away part of the morning and of course it came 10 minutes after I left..wasn't home to sign so it stayed on the truck. Delivery notice said they would come tomorrow...I am going to be gone all day 9-3 so I called Fed Ex and said I would be over....at 80 years old it is a feat to get in there....no wine. It was out on the truck again...I came home and they had been here...another paper on the door. I called and he is coming back this afternoon on his way back...I hate having to run over there every time and hope this works out. I am ready to quit the club....it is too much work!
