For What It Is Its Very Good Up Until The Battery
For what it is its very good up until the battery runs out, which unfortunately isn't very long at all. Then its the rest of the day on charge to get another 10 minutes, if your lucky!
Limited also by the length of the blade, its only capable of light duties at best. If B & D had incorperated a quick-release mains lead into the device, rather than having a separate charger, it would be far more useful.
I've had mine just over a year and i think the battery is on the way out already, and i'm trying hard to find a replacement at under £50! My advice is get one with a cord or a petrol version, this is little more than a toy, though it could still be dangerous in the wrong hands.

I Wasn't Expecting Much From This Chainsaw, But I
I wasn't expecting much from this chainsaw, but I have to say it is brilliant. It will cut a six-inch log with ease, and actually I have cut eight-inch logs by turning the log round.
The saw is light and easy to handle, and I can safely use it with one hand.
The only thing that lets it down is battery life, and it needs six or so complete charges and discharges before it gains its full capacity. I don't know where B&D get the idea that it will cut 150 3.5cm cuts, because it won't, however I easily get 10 logs out of a 5-inch tree before the battery runs down, and I got a spare battery from ebay for 15 quid.
As long as you FULLY discharge the battery every time (and that means running the saw freely for a few minutes after it has stopped being able to cut wood), the battery will have enough capacity for most people, most of the time.
If you do a lot of cutting, you probably don't want this as your only saw, but it is great for chucking in a rucksack and scavenging in the woods, or for using up a ladder when you need ease of handling. It's also very quiet - no louder than a hedge trimmer, which means you can use it in the evening without annoying your neighbours.
Seriously, it's amazingly capable for something running off batteries. I don't regret buying it at all.

I Think This Chainsaw Is Just What I Have Been Loo
I think this chainsaw is just what I have been looking for, Its just fantastic for trimming down nummeres dozens palmtrees on my half acre property, it will cut down the tickness of more than 5 inches thick,I don't like the charging of the battery, it will say that battery is full, but its deffenetly NOT, I find out that you realy have to leave it on charge for hours regardless of it mention fully charge. For the rest its just what I'm looking for, the leaves is for my chipper mulcher. Palmtrees are very soft when wet,it will cut it like butter. have not triyed on hard stumps yet. For $187.00 australian dollars is very overpriced, but there is NO otter chouce than Bunnings the cheapest. Black & Decker cordless chainsaw.4 Years warrantee.

For The Occasional Use, Where Noise And Weight Cou
For the occasional use, where noise and weight could be an issue, and used with experience, I consider the Black & Decker GKC1817-GB to be quite a capable alternative tool.
Value for money, well could be a touch cheaper.
Buyers must be aware that a Chainsaw used incorrectly, is very dangerous. And should read the Users Manual thoroughly before use.

Don't Be Fooled Into Thinking This Black & Decker
Don't be fooled into thinking this Black & Decker GKC1817-GB Cordless Chainsaw is a useful tool. My loppers are far better at cutting 2" stuff. For cutting firewood the saw struggles as chances are that you'll be cutting 3"-4" stuff. It gets through - just - but battery life is hopeless.
