Stihl MS660

I absolutely love my 660 and would recommend it to anyone who wants an animal of a saw that decimates wood to dust in seconds.I have had mine for 3 years and cut alot of wood mainly all dead seasoned locust thats like iron,it cuts it with ease. I also rip my wood longways to save splitting it since locust can be near impossible to split. The shavings produced make excellent mulch for around the house and last along time with no chemicals.

It is hard to find a 90cc saw that will beat the MS660, in fact it may be impossible given the saws available today.

Husky makes a saw that is somewhat smoother than the 660, but nobody makes one that will pull any better or do more work in a day.

Now not everybody needs a 90cc saw, in fact I would suggest that most do not. However, if you do need a 90cc saw, then you will not find a better one that this. It does however burn a lot of fuel, but all 90cc saws do! You can easily pull a 36" bar with this saw, and have no issues at all. Ensure you burn 89 octane fuel or higher, and ensure you use high quality chain oil, it will last you a lifetime!

We did have MS880's at one time, but the 660 is now the biggest saw we use.

I always wanted a good saw that would start up when needed, make cutting wood enjoyable instead of raw work. I found all of this in one saw! This was the best purchase I have ever made. I cut between 15-25 cords of wood a year and within the last 3 days I have managed to cut up about 5 cords of wood in 1/2 the time it used to take me. This saw is an animal! and is a wood-eater, sawing through hardwoods like butter, 25" bar, without any bogging what so ever. The only thing that I would have liked to know before making the purchase; as small as it may seem is, that Stihl does not make a chainsaw case to fit this saw or the MS 880 model. This is a rather large investment and I like to keep my equipment in tip top shape so a case would have been the cherry on the sundae.My personal opinion is that out of 1-10 10 being the most satisfied with the saw I give it a perfect 10.
