Excellent, Robust And Easy To Use

I’ve been using my Flymo for about a decade on my 200 sq metres of lawn, two or three times a year, scarifying and raking up leaves. As long as you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS the lawn raker should last many years. Just get the height correct, mow the lawn first and only use the Flymo in straight lines. Don’t try steering around curves but lift the rear off the ground to turn it around.

Tines are low cost (about nine quid for 42) and easy to replace.

Broke After 1 Use - Avoid This

A very disappointing experience from a well-known brand such as Flymo. Having used their lawn mowers for years I expected good quality. I used the lawnrake once and while it worked it did a good job of removing the weeds from the garden and the bucket is easy to empty.

BUT less than 5 minutes into its second use it stopped working with what appeared to be a drive issue - the motor was working but the rotar arm was not. Looking on this forum and checking other forums other than Amazon reviews and it seems this is a common problem. Amazon were good to agree a refund and the useless item has gone from this household.

I have been using this lawn raker for nearly ten years. It is very good at scarifying my lawns, easy to use and robust. I can only assume the reviewers giving bad scores haven’t followed the instructions.

Rear Wheel

I just bought this lawnrake from the Bristol depot and as said in another review the length of the thread of fixing bolt is not long enough to tighten the rear wheel to the fixing mount. Either the bolt is the wrong size or the macine has been incorrectly manufactured. THe problem side is the side that the height adjuster is attached.

Back Left Side Wheel Could Not Be Fitted

I noticed in B&Q Meir Park, Stoke-on-Trent that the left side rear wheel fell off when lifting the machine to assess the weight. On building the machine at home, it was evident that the thread was wrong on the same wheel and so it was back to B&Q. They admitted that they knew the machine was faulty and that they had three returned the same day. Much to my amazment, and anger, they had sold a machine knowing that it was not fit for purpose. I opted for a McAllister MRS1400. It certainly cleared out the moss but the collection system is hopeless. I had to manually rake a very large lawn and pick up all of the moss etc. Not amused. What are these people playing at?

Really Great As An Ornament, Rubbish As A Lawnrake

The 340 looks great, works for half an hour before it snaps the belt for the second time I have had to replace the drive gears too. Not once have I actually managed to do the whole garden before the belt breaks.I give up with it and it will be going back. Flymo.... what on earth are you doing!

Started Well Then Faded Off In The Distance

Bought the flymo 340 worked well the first season then the tines needed replacing, bought the genuine ones no problem replacing them but now they dont scarify, my wife with the wire rake is more efficient although you could say more costly to run

Disappointing Considering The Reputation Of Flymo

I bought my Flymo Lawnrake Compact 340 second hand and found it needed a new motor which I bought and installed.

I used it last year and after half an hour it stopped working. It had stripped the teeth from the drive belt and damaged the flange that keeps the belt on the drive pulley! I bought a new belt and drive pulley flange and installed them last week. I used the rake for a hour or so and it packed up - again the belt's teeth were stripped but this time the drive pulley (made of plastic) was also stripped.

I got in touch with Flymo (Husqvarna) - they won't speak to end users unless you used their 0845 number - and found they do not sell the drive pulley - a small 10p plastic component that fits on the end of the motor shaft and is easily installed. I would have to spend £23+ for a new motor, which included the plastic pulley. What a rip off and hardly environmental (a complete electric motor when all I need is a cheap plastic component)

Flymo (Husqvarna) has a DISGRACEFUL spares supply and pricing policy not to mention some pretty poor design of some of their components. How can a big company like Flymo risk its reputation with bad design and a dodgy spares policy - it does not make any sense! I would not recommend this product to anybody. I only gave it one star because there did not appear to be a facility to give it less. It truly is a heap of junk. It might work ok if you had no moss in your lawn and set the height so that the tines do not touch the grass.

Totally Ineffective. It Barely Scratched The Surfa

Totally ineffective. It barely scratched the surface despite working for hours. Far worse than my old Black & Decker. I had to hire a scarifier to get any results.

Goodness knows what you did wrong but it is a very effective scarifier. You did read the instructions?

The motor is working but the blades don't rotate. Does anyone know why?

RobKinsey

I have a problem that the tine roller will not rotate when the roller/tines are on the ground. I have replaced all the tines and also fitted new drive belt as original was in tack but a bit worn and still no good. The strange thing is that when the roller is off the ground it freely rotates, lower it onto the grass and it stops!!! Can anyone out there explain what is the problem??
