Aurora Generator Review - Love The Perkins Engine

Love the Perkins engines used in Aurora Generators. There are a few generators called "silent diesel generators' Portable generators naturally have a short lifespan when used for prime power. That is normal for 3600 RPM engines. I got the Perkins two cylinder silent diesel generator. It uses the Perkins / Caterpillar C0.5 aka Perkins 402D-05 diesel. Aurora so far is the only company that has two cylinder diesel generators. Perkins guarantees it for 10,000 hours use and 500 hour oil changes. When you shop for a Silent Diesel Generator, make sure you get the liquid cooled one. Love Aurora Generators.

Aurora Generator Reviews - 2011 Silent Diesel Gene

Aurora Generator Reviews - 2011 Silent Diesel Generator. Just got mine in Feb of this year. I can't say enough good things about it. It is easy to start in any weather. The built in cold start preheater got it going in -20 for me when the power failed. It is much quieter then previous models and now that it has CSA and ETL approval so I'm able legally to connect it to my home. No others carry any electrical approval so this was my only choice but so far so good. I have one older one I use commercially and it still still running from years ago.

Aurora has discussion forums, complete parts store, downloadable manual, video how to guides and setup instructions, really cool stuff when you compare to any other, nobody else does this. Thumbs Up !

This is my third generator from them. Two Silent Diesel Generators and a home standby unit.

We Have Had This Generator For Exactly A Year.

We have had this generator for exactly a year.So far it has been dead 75% more than it has been alive. While under warranty it took a long time for us to actually receive the part (starter) we needed. Consequently, we went through 3 starters = 3 months or more just sitting. We have had vibration problems: air filter holder snapped off (not under warranty) plus they happily informed us we were now out of warranty.A week ago while it was going it just died. We have as of yet not found the cause. It cranks but does not catch. In short, if you are thinking of buying a generator look at something with a more reliable track record and better service. If I had to do it again I would buy something that was US made with a solid reputation. Or a Honda which just seems to run and run...
