The 4000/3500 watt Champion a conventional engine-driven "true sine wave" alternator, NOT an "inverter-type." Inverter generators are popular for campground use with their "idling-down" capability under light loads, which results in somewhat lower noise levels. However inverters generally produce a very "dirty" synthesized "sine wave" which is loaded with "electronic noise." Just be aware that while many AC appliances will tolerate this condition, some electronic devices will not, most notably radio and many other communications systems.

This is where the Champion 4000/3500 conventional generator really shines, with its true AC Sine Wave. Additionally, the 60 HZ frequency is very well regulated due to a very fast-responding engine-speed governor and good engine power output. The output voltage is well regulated by a built-in electronic module. You will find it set at 125 volts under no load, settling in nicely at around 120 when loaded. I also found the generator mechanical noise level to be very acceptable, due in part to an excellent heavy duty engine exhaust muffler.

This generator is high quality, and Champion Power Equipment is a company with high standards and good ratings. They are US owned and operated with their own manufacturing facilities in China. If you should need to contact them you will be very pleased with their truly outstanding customer service. I had a couple of technical questions to ask them. I will say "they absolutely know their stuff," and their correspondence is fast.

Although I have not used this generator a lot yet, it has already exceeded my expectations and I am totally satisfied that it will meet my needs perfectly. Also, I feel the "dollar-value" is unbeatable, especially with occasional vendor promotions.
