I Feel The Generac 9777 Is Good Value For The Pric

I feel the Generac 9777 is good value for the price, works for what I need it to do, and very fuel efficient. It is pretty loud, and my oil pressure sensor went bad, drove me nuts till I just disconnected it, runs fine now.

It's Good On Fuel Consumption And Gets The Job Don

It's good on fuel consumption and gets the job done. It's a little to loud for camping or a boat. Overall the Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended Life Premium Generator is a great generator. I have recommended it to friends.

Starts easy and carries the load. Very reliable although the gas gage doesn't work. The Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended Life Premium Generator got us through a number of several day outages.

Bought The Generac 4000 Exl Generator A Few Years

Bought the Generac 4000 EXL generator a few years ago when the local power went into it's third day of being down and I got tired of being in the dark. The unit works as advertised, it always starts fine and the engine, with it's pressurized lubrication and spin-on oil filter (same size and type as the one used on the Mazda Miata and the Yanmar engine on my John Deere Garden Tractor) is a real fuel sipper and it looks like it will last a long, long time. It's big enough to run all the necessities (and even a few frills) while waiting for the power to be restored. The unit will run 24 hours a day on less than two tanks a day average.

My Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extend

My Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended Life Premium generator ran for two hours and died. Metal in the oil pan. Shop fixed it under warranty, but it took 30 days to get the parts from Generac/Briggs.

I Have Had The Generac Portable 9777 4000 Watt Gen

I have had the Generac Portable 9777 4000 watt generator for a week now. I am in the middle of the break-in period. To be fair I have not needed to contact customer support. Mine has run flawlessly. I am a contractor in California, and have been using it to power my saws and tools. Today when I went to start my truck, the battery was dead. I was far from any help. Happily this thing has a built in DC port, which charged my truck while I continued working. When it was time to go, my truck fired right up. I have no complaints, I mean come on- 4000watts/6600surge watts, Push button start, DC, AC 110-220 30A, Idle control, Oil pump system, and more. All for under $800. Not to mention that this things cousin, the 5500 wheelhouse, is a Consumer Reports Best Buy for 2004. I don't think you can go wrong. Hey if there is a problem as quick as in the first month, why not just take it back?

Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended

Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended Life Premium Generator - I recently purchased a 4000EXL for Hurricane Francis and Jeanne at Home Depot. I had a problem within the first hour of use. The first thing I did was fill the Engine with oil to the proper level, pull start it through to fill the oil filter, check the oil level again add some oil to top it off, then added the fuel stabilizer and fresh gas. I then turned on the "ON" switch, put it on full choke, hit the start button, and it came to life. I let the Engine run for 15 to 20 mins before I added any appliances so that it could stabilize. The engine ran great, purred like a kitten until I plugged in a TV, two small tower fans, and 4 light bulbs. It ran for about 10 mins and shut off. I checked the oil, and it was full of oil. I cranked it back up and it was knocking like crazy. I called the 800 number that was on the owner's manual, and got the nearest Authorized dealer for service. The dealer took the Engine apart and found that the connecting piston rod had severe damage and on the crank, but wasn't due to lack of lubrication, even though the oil was full of fine metal shavings. So a factory rep is coming to look at the engine, to determine what the cause was. I think it was due to poor workmanship and quality control. The reason I bought a Generac Generator with a Generac Engine, was that I thought since I already have a Generac 4200 watt Generator with a Honda 8HP GX240 Engine on it (that has performed flaulessly since 1999), that I was getting the same quality, If not better. I'm very disappointed and $780 in the hole.

A generator with a Honda GX series engine is hard to improve on.

Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended

Generac Portable Products 9777 4000 Watt Extended Life Premium Generator - I don't share the other reviewer's opinion on this piece of junk. Right out of the box the DC voltage was in the 8-9 range. Had it for service twice already with less than 30 hours on it. Totally responsible for blowing our 1hp well pump when it was the only load on the genset.

Output intermittently crashes under load.

Difficult to procure oil filter that you don't even know you need until you open the box (which by then with a hurricane on the way was low on my list of essentials). This company doesn't impress me nor does Home Depot for selling this can.

You would think (the "you" in this case is me) that a company selling literally tens of thousands of generators to Florida consumers in the last few weeks would have the common courtesy, the decency and the foresight to man the phones on the weekend that a hurricane was blowing through - on the off-chance that a few of those tens of thousands of customers might have some questions. Nope, apparently not.

I am going whole house genset (probably SDMO 60KVH diesel) and strongly suggest that anyone who can afford more than this Generac/Guardian junk buy a real genset that will last.

Let's understand the details here. Generac/Guardian does not make this generator. They sell the engine to Briggs and Stratton who currently owns Generac Portable Products. Briggs is responsible for the electronics of the units and the support of THEIR product. I have a Generac Guardian 7000 watt standby generator which has a 410cc OHVI engine, which Generac makes, and it has worked great for 3 years and quite a few outages.
