A Very Bad Experience

I have purchased several Le Creuset products for my wife. One of them was a frying pan which turned out to be a bad one.We took it back to the store at Sherway Gardens in Toronto. They did nothing and asked to call the head office which we did. They in turn asked us to go back to the store and select a product that they could replace the frying pan with. We did that and called Head Office back only to learn that the product we selected was a special edition one and could not be a replace product even though we were prepared to pay $300.00 additional.(original product $200.00)

The warranty and customer service are HORRIBLE.

One expects better than this. Shame on Le Crueset.

Not Suitable For Heat

My experience is the same as other complainants. The enamel inside my casserole dish chipped off as I was browning meat ready for a casserole. The Le Creuset customer service staff examined it and said it showed I had been using it on too high a heat, and refused to replace it. The heat I used was not excessive, and I fail to see how else I could have cooked anything in it. In short, this casserole dish was not fit for purpose. When you consider the price of these items, this is quite scandalous, especially when you can now buy very similar ones at a fraction of the price, which is what I will do in future.

I have just bought a lot of these

pots and pans and they are awful.I am going to have to go and buy proper pans as everything and I mean everything has to be scraped off the bottom and I am cooking on very low heat. What a huge waste of money

I have had similar issues. They claim breakage- the ultimate problem- is not covered, nor are lids. Their warranty service is the worst, yet on the box it sounds terrific. They are even rude and argumentative. Save your money -buy the cheap stuff. If there's a problem throw it away, but another and you will still be money ahead.

What Exactly Is Overheating

I love the look of my le creuset casserole and cooking in it was a joy. Unfortunately the enamel chipped into my food, enamel is glass!

I have had it assessed and, of course, it is out of warranty because it has been overheated. I have been very careful with it so I don't know what temperature would have been safe. Lukewarm perhaps!

Really Poor Customer Service - No Repair Centre

I contacted Le Creuset helpline for small damage on the enamel of my Le Creuset casserole. After I sent the casserole they replied that the damage was excluded from warranty (they will find a way to exclude it, believe me), so you need to battle very hard if you think you are right. I asked for a chargeable repair service and they do not offer this. The only solution they offer is buy a brand new expensive one casserole and dump the damage one. That's all. Never buy Le Creuset again.

Le Creuset Doughnut Pan

We were given the black enamel variety for making a Danish Christmas speciality called Aebleskiver. Le Creuset even call this pan "Aebleskiver Pan" in Danish. It was the most expensive pan you could buy for this purpose. The trouble is, the black enamel is not non-stick and as such you can't actually make Aebleskiver in it without them sticking. Since they need to be turned to make them round, the pan is completely useless. Customer Service have told me that the pan needs to be seasoned by cooking some greasy yorkshire puddings or something in it to build up a layer. How can you sell an Aebleskiver pan that cannot make Aebleskiver? Mine will go in the bin. It's useless and their customer service is a waste of time. First they promised me that I could swop to a different product and then they decided against that. I won't ever be buying Le Creuset again.

All cast iron needs to be seasoned! You can do this easily in a low oven and some vegetable shortening. There are several good references on line. It would be a shame to throw away such a beautiful cooking pan. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Hmm... you do realise that all cast iron must be seasoned? There's nothing wrong with the pan - you just need to know how to use it and prepare it properly.

Le Creuset Non Stick Frying Pan - Bentalls Kingston

We were given 2 Le Creuset frying pans for Christmas 2011, bought from Bentalls in Kingston. Both have been used frequently and one has peeled around the edge where as the other is perfect.

As we have 14 pieces of Le Creuset we know how to use and handle but for an almost £100 item, we cannot believe this has happened.

The response from Bentalls in Kingston is pathetic, granted we dont have receipt as gift but they have asked me to get bank statement from relative which is not going to be possible. When we took it back, we were told they would show it to le Creuset rep and if they could not verify fault it would be sent off for analysis.

Now, they have rung after 3 weeks and asked what problem with pan is? Once explained, they have advised i have to send off and sort myself...

Joke service from one of the UK's oldest department stores and to rub salt in the wounds, after 10 minutes of google search I have found item up to £20 cheaper at 4 different high street stores within a 5 mile location.

No more Le Creuset purchases for us and my last vist to Bentalls will be to collect frying pan, deal with the small independents who actually know what customer service is and not the arrogant overpriced department stores.

Non Stick Peels Away After A Year

Over the past few years I have spent well over £400 on le creuset cookware. The stainless pans and ceramic items are still going great and I really rate these, but all of the non stick items (milk pan x 2 and frying pan) have been returned under the 10 year warranty. The items were replaced but within a year there were signs once more of the non stick coating coming away from the edges. I might expect this from a 5 tesco pan, but not a £40 milk saucepan. I am now once again going to have to try and get le creuset to replace them under warranty.

All items are hand washed and are used in a domestic kitchen with a gas stove never on full heat.

My le creuset non stick tagine seems to be of much higher quality and shows no signs of wear after a year or more of use. However, the tagine is used about once a month whereas the milk pan is used every day.

Cast Iron Wok

Cost price £100+. However purchased Debenhams sale for £90+.

I have only cooked once with Wok, it is very heavy which I thought would render it good quality. However when purchased I did not take into consideration the fact that the handles are also cast iron, and despite following manufactures instructions, the handles became too warm to touch. I found it awkward and dangerous trying to get the food from the Wok to plate taking into consideration the weight of it also. I find it difficult to understand how this item could have passed health and safety procedures. Despite explaining this to customer service, I was informed they would not accept the item back because I did not like it, and failed to accept my explanation. I now have a Wok which will sit in the cupboard as I am unable to use it, and despite the price paid for it, I will now have to purchase an alternative. I have several other la creuset items in my possession but will never purchase another. I am so disappointed.

Le Creuset Non Stick

We have now twice returned Le Creuset non stick pans under their 10 year guarantee. The third set is now peeling away from all the pan edges. I do not think it even worth claiming on the guarantee a third time and will buy an alternative make.

Frankly, Le Creuset Has No Place In A Cooks Kitche

Frankly, Le Creuset has no place in a cooks kitchen. We have other cast iron cookware which has been very good, most of which is bare, not non- stick - the point of cast iron is the coating of oils it builds up. Have now returned three out of four Le Creuset pieces purchased one and a half years ago, and we do know how to look after it. Big casserole slowly developed a crack from an initial blemish noted on supply, little casserole lost bits of non-stick to reveal rust underneath, and was never overheated ... and what does overheated mean? The frying pan is losing non-stick - the usual twenty questions from the helpdesk suggest we have overheated it, but it has never been on top heat, and never subjected to sudden temperature change. The handle has also now fallen off. Lastly, the non-stick on the milk pan is dull and no longer non stick ... so, it looks good in the corner of the kitchen, but its not up to daily use. The twenty five year old cast iron pans from a nameless french source we inherited, however, continue fine ...
