Great Family Dog For First Or Experienced Owners
It is nothing to do with the dog just a bad family allowing bad behaviour so yes they should get the bad rating. Lovely dogs generally but can be energetic so do need walks so clearly families fault for the dog not socialising often on walks for aggressiveness. A "designer dog" is simply what the media has labelled a dog tha has two purebreds in it not a fashionable dog like reddogtrainer clearly thinks. Annoys me a lot when people blame breeds for bad behaviour and barely know a fact about dogs themselves. Prices in the uk are generally £500-£700 which is quite reasonable since both dogs are generally priced in the thousands! Labs and springers are both used in the police force as sniffer dogs therefore the breed is very trainable I was able to train mine at 8 weeks to sit in 1 DAY. Also both breeds love food so this helps with training but can be protective over food so try to nip this in the bud as quick as possible! If you take your dog to puppy training classes like every responsible owner should then there should be no problem what so ever. Springadors have a gorgeous coat for an absolutely gorgeous dog 100% recommend as a family dog for first time or experienced dog owners!

A Lovely Dog
Our springador, Titus, and his litter mates were accidents. Mom was a AKC registered tricolor springer and dad was a AKC registered black labrador retriever. The owner of mom didn't charge for the puppies, since she didn't feel comfortable profiting from not fixing her dog. I've seen people charge $500 plus for "oops" dogs. Titus is the best thing to happen to my husband and I. Titus is 5.5 months old now, and just a love. Very smart! He was house trained in 5 days after we picked him up when he was 8 weeks. He only had 3 small accidents, and after we started letting him out every 30 minutes, or after he played/drank/ate. He has been walking 1-mile plus since 12 weeks, and we bump it up to 3 miles a day on the weekends. He doesn't bark much, and is very loving. We are working on training him to hunt up deer/elk antler sheds, and I am wanting to start him training for bird hunting. He is gentle with infants and children alike. He actually came to school with me for the first 2.5 months we had him, and stayed in my office. He never barked or howled, and never had any accidents. He learned how to use his dog door to the backyard in 2 days. He learns very quickly, and his coat has been easy maintenance. We have 5 different toys that are puzzle toys, so he has to turn them a certain way to get treats out of them. He loves those, and goes nuts when we bring them out. We actually let him choose which one he wants to play with. We usually give him a bath on the weekend, especially after going to the dog park, where he runs with all the "big dogs" and gets covered in mud. He cleans up very easy, and is very good about being in the tub for a bath. Since he was 4 months, he has been able to sit, stay, shake, lay down, high five, drop, come, and leave it. He walks well with a harness. I saw someone comment earlier in the thread about using a harness, instead of putting the lead on a collar. I highly recommend this mix. There are many purebred dogs who prove to not be good gun dogs or retrievers. You will find the same true for many working or hunting dogs. Don't rule out a mix or hybrid because they are mixed. Depending on the mix, you will get the traits that mom and dad pass down. The dad of our pup, the lab, was a good retriever for his owner, who duck hunts. The mother was a good family dog, and wasn't trained to be a gun dog. We ended up getting both traits strongly in our pup. He has a soft mouth, strong nose, keen eye, is very willing to please, and listens well.

Lively Dogs Sold As Being A 'designer' Breed
A Springer Spaniel x Labrador is not a true breed, nor is it a 'designer dog'. The fact they are being sold for hundreds of pounds is ridiculous, they are a crossbreed.
I have met a few Lab x Springers, and they can be good dogs. They tend to be excitable and energetic, and the nice ones I have met were owned by good people. They were well trained, properly socialised, walked for several hours a day and well loved. This helps create a happy stable dog that fits well into a family.
However I also know a family that own one and have raised a neurotic, anxious, aggressive dog that is always stressed. The dog is walked once a day for ten minutes, despite the fact it is energetic. This dog is extremely dog aggressive, obsessed with her ball (she has chased it onto the road and almost been hit, she has got stuck between rocks when the ball fell down a crack resulting in her being trapped for 30 minutes etc) and resource guards it from other dogs and humans. When the dog has her ball, the nineteen year old teases her resulting in the dog snarling and growling...the family finds this hilarious.
It is one of the most unhappy, broken dogs I know...
Completely agree definitely the irresponsible family's fault!! Dog is a lovely breed and doesn't deserve the bad rating because of a bias review

So really the family should get the poor star rating not the dog

Springador
I have a Springador who is now nearly 5 years old and is one of the best dogs I have ever had in over 30 years of dog ownership. He has an amazing temperament and is left for 8 hours a day without any problems. He is gentle and friendly with children, adults and all other dogs and does not have a nasty bone in him. His appearance is like a small working Labrador with a short Labrador coat but is white with brown spots and long ears. people often think he is a small Pointer. He is a natural flusher and was very easy to train. I could not recommend Springadors enough as a good, all round perfect family member who has brought a lot of joy to our family.
Where did you find a breeder
Springador - Jet
I have a 12 month old Springador named Jet, mum was a liver and white English Springer and dad was a Black Lab, having lost my 7 year old German Shepherd 6 months previous to cancer, which devastated us, my grandchildren (2 and 5 now) really missed him, we were determined to get another dog. Having had English Springer's in the past I wanted one of these again, we looked for a long time, then came across and advert for a 9 week old Springador, she had been born on a farm, and the owners had both mum and dad. Well to say the least, she is amazing, quick to learn, absolutely fantastic with the grandchildren children who adore her, and when they come to me she is the first thing the 2 year old asks for, it is fabulous to see her with them, however got to say, if you are thinking of getting one be prepared, they do need lots of exercise and love, she loves being hugged, she loves retrieving things, chasing things, but that's the gun dog in her and comes natural without training.

**brillant Breed**
Me and my parent brought our first house and wanting a dog with having a two year old we wanted a friendly family breed, after searching the net we found some springerdors close to home for sale, his mum being a tiny liver liver and white working springer and dad pedigree black lab, we fell straight in love him & naming him roary! He is a brillamt family dog, he is 6 months old now. This breed of dog is very very clever and picks up toilet training amd tricks very quick. We got him at 8 weeks he was toilet trained within just over a week, after a night of crying he got use to the kitchen, he sits, stays doesn't come up stairs doesnt jump on the sofa hasn't ever chewed anything but his own toys nothing valuesble furniture etc.. Springerdors are brillamt soft family dogs as well as a brilliant working breed. If your looking at getting a springerdor a few times to advice you,
1) always use a harness when walking- because roary doesn't walk on a lead in the field etc, when on the lead he can pull and a pup will only get stronger. We got a no pull harness from pets for home £11. It is fab I couldn't recommend them enough, he walks at your side doesnt even try to pull me and it's better for there neck.
2) with them being a clever breed they can get bored very quick, there brains need to be ticking with them being a lovely pup.
A kong stuffed with bread in big chunks a bit of jam peanut butter dog food anything in a kong they take them ages!!
3) A bottle with stones in for when he jumps up, sofa going up the stairs etc. not to hard and they don't like it after a few attempts he won't do it again,
Remember never to smack a dog all it does is scare them, we have never hit roary just a firm voice works,
They are the best dogs ever!!!
I've recently found out about audible for dogs, which can be played at a very low volume so that the dog can hear and be comforted by it when alone but not so much as to disturb anyone in the house or the neighbours. It is recommended to pick a book that is narrated by the gender that the dog is used to hearing the most and in the same tone i.e. if you are often very excitable in speaking with your dog, sing-songy, etc. I'm going to be trying it with my pup (also a springador) but could be worth a try as it gives the impression to the dog that they aren't on their own.
I have a 15 week old
Springador and
She has
Started to soil her crate or anywhere if she is left alone :( help!! We just don't know what to do.. Cleaning poo out of the crate bars everyday is hard and
Then having to bath her.. If she is with us she will sit at the living room door just looking if she needs a poo so we take her out. She sleeps in her own bed in our room at night and is perfect.. Sleeping for 7 hours and not messing once.. It's only when she is alone.. Have tried kongs and lots of toys but not working.. Any advice would be so helpful.
Thank you
Fantastic X Breed
I have a 16 month old springador ( x breed) he is the nicest dog I've owned. He loves everyone and is known in the village as the cute giant. He has big ears like his dad and has a sleek shinny black coat like his mum. He play fantastically with my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, he's so gentle. He is full of life and needs plenty of exercise which he gets as we love walking. I would recommend this breed to anyone who wants a large friendly energetic dog, mine great.
Amazing Dog
I accidentally stumbled across this breed in a local wal-mart parking lot. A family breeding English Springer Spaniels had the neighbor's lab come calling. The result were beautiful brown curly haired lab looking puppies. They were giving them away out of the back of their truck. I knew instantly I had to have one. My Lucy is the sweetest, smartest, most gentle dog I have ever had. I would get another one in a heartbeat.

I have a springador who will be 4 in December. I got him from an old boss if mine who had labs and springer gun dogs, he does the odd breeding but only lab-lab and vice versa.
All his dogs had a fantastic nature. Clever and steady and I always said that I wanted a pup off the male springer litter as he was fine example of a springer but he caught the lab and she produced a lovely litter of 8 springador pups. I got the first pick of the litter and picked the fattest wee pup there and he's turned out to be a fantastic companion and a best friend for my nephew. My springador is full of energy, great with kids and the most kindest dog I have ever owned.
If you are looking to get a good family pet I would defiantly advise a springador but the same with any working breed needs a sensible amount of exercise because my one is always full of energy but the temperament is fantastic he has the intelligence and temperament that would put any labradoodle to shame.
He is not a Mongol but a cross breed as the mix of breeds is known and it the best cross to ever be introduce to the canine world. My wee guy has received a lot of attention from he when he was a pup and still to this day. His glossy to look at black coat but when the sun hits it you see the liver colour tinge through it and has a white blaze on his chest!
Spring Ardor Temperament
I got my spring ardor jess at 8 weeks old she's now 16 months old and she's brilliant plenty of energy and fun, she loves her tennis balls and is walked twice a day plus plays in the garden. She's a great family pet very loving gets on great with the kids best thing we ever did.
Q&A
Does anyone breed this combination: Female springer spaniel male Labrador retriever?
My husband and I would love a springerdor, my husband grew up with one, I also grew up with dogs. We walk a lot and live surrounded by fields and woods. Can anyone suggest where best to look?
Thank you
