The Best
My partner and I visited the shelter yesterday and was so happy with the way all the animals were treated. We saw dogs and cats nothing so much trouble for the staff and helpers they was lovely. A lot of work is going on but everyone so happy and cheerful atmosphere was relaxing. We came home with a beauty of a cat hes ace . Great shelter and people we would tell everyone to go there if we could.

A Credit To Tameside
Tameside shelter is a place that isn't posh to look at but we took some cat litter down last week and the care and love they show to all their animals is wonderful. A member of staff asked if we would like a look round and he was so nice. The animals are well cared for but above all they are loved at this place. Cats and babies cozy and clean, laughter and a great atmosphere. They all work so hard too we shall be supporting them as they deserve every penny.

Tameside shelter is one of the best shelters I have worked at. As a volu ter I didn't know what to expect but inside the place the love and compassion shown to every animal is wonderful. During my time their their was a kitten so poorly found on the street, it was upsetting because it was so poorly but the care and love staff and volunteers showed this baby was out of this world. They never give up on a live and the place is spotless. Animal lovers don't get any better than this

The Best
We are lucky to have such a shelter in Hyde. On a recent visit we found the staff helpful, the animals spotless and every effort is made to make them as comfortable as can be. Nothing is too much trouble.
They have a brilliant record for rehoming dogs, and these you can see when you go, nothing is hidden, and I support and recommend them for their kindness and compassion for all in their care/
thank you all for what you do

Really Helpful
We went to Tameside on a Sunday having phoned in advance to check they had kittens. Other rescue centres didn't answer phones on a Sunday and i found myself wondering whether they had really thought through their opening hours. People don't adopt animals Monday to Friday while at work! Tameside were really helpful and nice and we have now had our beautiful cat for four months and can't imagine life without her

Bad Practice
I bought a cat from here was told they think its been spayed ! As I found it wasn't . It also had not been vaccinated or flead or wormed on taking the cat to my vet she said it was irresponsible to re home a cat that has not had the above treatment . I went to the shelter to try and help an older cat and give it a home they say you pay a donation that's not the case its £55 yes £55 for an intact un vaccinated un chipped not flead or wormed cat . This cost me an extra £60 at the vets . I understand the shelter need the money an I no they take unwanted animals but I couldn't help but think its more a bussiness than a rescue centre. The staff were ok but again no one seems to no whats going on I told 2 different story's off we're my cat came from . I'm now dealing with a cat that's very much in season Tom cats at my door and as I can't get my cat to them at 8 in the morning on a Thursday they can't spay her neither will they they cover cost at my local vet . After all I did pay for a spayed cat in the first place . I'm disappointed and feel I've been conned I love my kitty but I'd go to the RSPCA to get a cat as you can be sure it will be properly vaccinated , flead, wormed and spayed before rehoming. It's bad practice if I let my cat out she would off got pregnant an more unwanted kittens to rehome as a shelter off unwanted animals I'd say its not good practice . I feel if the animals were spayed , neutered vacs flead wormed then the amount off money charged can be justified .
Hmmm...methinks you protest too much! But you have no pricing policy and this isn't the first time this had happened. My neighbour was quoted 3 different "adoption fee" figures for the same animal & when she said she'd pay only the original price or leave the animal there a disgruntled staff member finally agreed! Didn't realise you tried auctioning off the disadvantaged to the highest bidder!! And how can you be a "not for profit" outfit when you charge for what should be pre-neutered/vaccinated/wormed & de-flea'd animals that vets can clearly prove turn out not to be?? Time to put up....or shut up.
i suggest that instead of inaccurate statements only intended to try and cause trouble you should call personally at the shelter where your " concerns" will be dealt with personally and you can see the amount of love, care and compassion that is heaped on all our residents...... we look forward to seeing you
the cats there are wormed, flead and none have had cat flu for 2 years, so afraid you have your facts wrong again......... as a volunteer I know first hand the work and dedication that goes into this shelter, shame on you for making up such stories
if you post is to be believed why hasnt yours been removed> absolute rubbish, we provide paperwork for every animal accepted and adopted, sorry you must have gone down the road to another shelter
Vegan I have done the same but have not heard back. Fingers crossed that this gets addressed, if only to bring the service up to suitable standards and ensure that the shelter gets the help that they need to care for the animals properly.

Without Them, Where Would The Animals Be?
I got a dog from here, who unfortunately is no longer with me. She had behavioural issues, like many dogs who are rehomed, but this is similar to a child in foster care. Their whole world has been turned upside down.
There was an issue with fleas on the dog I adopted, but she hasn't been in the care of the shelter long enough to have been treated for them. Despite this, the shelter offered to reimburse me for her treatment and home fumigation. Initially I pursued this, but they're too underfunded so this wasn't fair, I could afford it at the time.
The pens were looking old, but the week after I adopted her they refurbished the site, so I don't have any concerns on that.
The only thing I am concerned about is the level of home checking. I only had to provide vet checks for other pets, which, in theory is good, however if I was an animal abuser (which in 100% not, just to clairfy), I could have easily have provided Faldo documents or failed to produce vet records for other animals who weren't taken care of properly. Obviously this wasn't the case, but there are some sick people out there who would do that.
But in my opinion, the staff do a wonderful job there. Without the shelter (which I'm assuming relies entirely on self funding and donations), these animals would have nowhere to go. TheRSPCA is also underfunded and usually filled to capacity, so I think the people leaving negative reviews are too quick to judge them. If you planned on adopting a did but the owners wanted them back, surely this is a good thing for the dog? They won't be sent back to a neglectful environment, and they go back to people they know and love. Whilst it is upsetting for you to lose your potential dog, it is in their best interest.
Thank you for being so selfless and providing care to these animals. Please don't let the haters being you down.

Shelter Fantastic !!!!!
I HAVE NEVER READ ANYTHING AS RIDICULOUS AND TROUBLECAUSING AS THE STATEMENT UNDERNEATH THIS ONE. THE ANIMALS AT THE SHELTER ARE WELL CARED FOR, NOTHING IS LEFT TO CHANCE, AND THEY ARENT JUST FED AND WALKED THEY ARE LOVED AND CARED FOR TOO. THIS SHELTER HAS HAD ITS SHARE OF TROUBLEMAKERS AND THE REVIEW BELOW IS JUST ANOTHER ONE ATTEMPTING TO CAUSE HARM TO THE DEDICATED STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS WHO WORK THERE CARING FOR ALL THE ANIMALS DAY IN AND DAY OUT. THEY ARE A VERY POPULAR SHELTER AND THIS REALLY GETS UP PEOPLES NOSES. TO SAY ANIMALS ARE ONLY CLEANED OUT ONCE A WEEK IS BORDERING ON SLANDEROUS. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT AND STOP TRYING TO HARM THOSE WHO LOOK AFTER THE ANIMALS NO ONE ELSE WANTS. MUST BE A VERY SAD PERSON
