Emergency Cover

I have the Signature Insurance which is supposed to be the top level and that includes emergency cover. The issue concerns rats in loft which was reported on the 14th January. Since then very little has been done and there is almost a complete lack of communication from UIA. Phone calls have not been returned e-mails ignored it feels like they just don't care.

Uia Are Cheating Their Customers

I've had home contents insurance with them for over 20 years.

They sent me a reminder for £157, on going to their web site they quoted me £80 as a new customer!!!

I have never made a claim and they have never offered a 'no claims discount'.

When I phoned about their outrageous behaviour they thought it was ok, but did offer a quote of £137.

Or I could go with the £80 quote as a new customer.

Scandalous.

They will never get another penny from me.

Do Not Use Them!

Don't bother with these charlatans. They will sell you a policy and do everything they can to renege on it. No good faith here, they treat you like a criminal even when you've been robbed and need to claim just to recover small items and cash. Utter liars.

Rubbish

I had damage done to my roof where one of my chimney pots fell off and broke a couple of tiles during the winter months. I phoned UIA to get the insurance to fix it but after they sent someone out to look at it they said it was wear and frost damage meaning they would pay out.

Most annoying thing is it seems to have effected my no claims and I have a claim of £134.40 against me. What's the point on having insurance if they try and sneak out of paying. I will never use them again.

Useless Now Looking Switch

I had full house and contents insurance with UIA with emergency cover for a number of years and never made a claim until now, we've had a nightmare with rat infestation in the loft of our kitchen extension it's been going on for around 3 months now, even though we are covered for infestation of rats, mice etc UIA have wormed there way out in every way possible not to cover us, we now left with bare electric cables knawed at by the rats, we've had maggots dropping from the ceiling around the velux Windows and urine stained ceilings.

I have filed a complaint today and I will also complaining to the insurance ombudsman, whilst now looking for other insurance, my advice would to avoid UIA insurance

Refused Claim

Had for three years every time it came for renewing I rang and asked that Accidental damage was included in the policy which each time I was told YES it is included. Came to claim for an accidental on Tablet and guess what I was not covered under the Accidental damage section as it was not a home computer!!!!!and low and behold I did not have full accidental damage on my policy. BEWARE this company they LIE to you. If you do use them then

1.Get everything in righting

I have now cancelled policy and moved to another supplier which has full accidental damage and is a lot cheaper. Just means I have lost out on claim for tablet but hey could have been worse Typical union orientated rubbish.

Won't Pay Out

This company use a claims firm to get out of paying,

Fast And Efficient

I recently had a burglary which was really stressful as the burglar took many things including gold jewellery that was given to me by my father who died last year of cancer. We haven't had to claim in 7 years we have had insurance but unfortunately we had to make our first claim! I was very apprehensive after reading the negative reviews on UIA insurance. Our claim was dealt very quickly and efficiently. The staff were polite and very helpful

Terrible Experience With This Company, Took Out Ho

Terrible experience with this company, took out home insurance this year as they were recommended by my union .

Unfortunately we suffered a break in at our property and rather than be assisted by a loss adjuster in making a claim, a company some 240 miles away were given the task of, what felt like finding a way out of paying ! It felt worse than the actual robbery dealing with them !

Once our claim was settled and UIA sent out our renewal for the following year ,they imposed a requirement for an alarm system which was to be maintained on contract to a local firm (£2000 installation and £200 annual fee) and the conditions attached were very strict.

We could not afford any more associated security costs having already installed eight security cameras , gates , sash locks .

So at this point I decided we would have to forget "contents" insurance and asked for a quote for just "buildings" cover , and even for this cover insisted on the alarm installation.

Very bad experience , avoid and go else where!
