Extremely Poor Finish
We purchased this gas range cooker when we fitted our new kitchen a few years ago. We chose Stoves as we had had one before which was excellent. After only 18 months some of the knobs had to be replaced as the silver finish had fallen off as it is only a foil type of paint A few months later the fascia panel had to be replaced as the print had disappeared totally, which all cost over £100. The clip which holds the inner glass in the main oven is loose and regularly drops out when cleaning the oven but the worst problem now is that the paint is literally peeling off both doors and the grill door to reveal what looks like rust beneath it! We contacted Stoves but as the cooker is obviously out of guarantee we did not hold out much hope so were not surprised when we did not even get a reply, how rude! Despite the problems the cooker works very well but looks an absolute disgrace in our lovely kitchen and the only answer would be to replace all the affected parts or the cooker itself. We have never seen faults like this on any other cooker and cannot imagine why this has happened but will never buy another Stoves product as we are very disappointed.
Had to pay for the parts as no guarantee and Stoves would not accept that it was down to poor workmanship, naturally! The cooker has now gone to the scrap heap and we have bought a gorgeous stainless steel Rangemaster 110cm which we are delighted with but so sorry you are having the same problems. Hopefully Stoves will realise that they are doing a very poor job of building cookers! Regards
I have had a similar problem, rust appeard where the bars join the doors. Stoves replaced all the doors as apparently there was a fault in manufacturing. Now the rust is appearing again, also the appearance of the range cooker is dreadful. it has a 'mottled' appearance as steam is being absorbed into the paintwork. Why did you have to pay £100?
Have to Agree, having purchased an electric Stoves cooker model 05858102 I have had the same fascia problems in that print had also completely faded away after 12/18 months. I had the extended guarantee (now cancelled) but was told this wasn't covered in the package . Now I have a potentially great cooker but can't tell temperature or function I am using (Highly Important I would have thought) ........................but NOT in their eyes. .
