Good Looks And Nothing Else

When clean it looks great but if you cook and stuff spills it is awful. Cleaning it is a nightmare. No just wipe down. Getting stuff off is hard work and you are restricted by what you can use due to the nature of the glass. Even after a full clean, a wipe down will show smears. After 3 years use the back metal trim rail is discoloured, the wok burner is impossible to clean and the metal around the burners will not clean up well.

Control wise it is not brilliant, we have to fiddle to get the flame just off simmer and the installer did set all the pressures correctly. The indictor lights are full, 3 light, none, so they are of no real use.

This is not a quality practical product.

If you do a lot cooking do not go near it

Aeg Glass Gas Hob Hg99544onb

The style of the hob is exceptional to look at however the practicality is not. I am not happy with the igniters on the hob which take several attempts to catch fire before it stays burning it does not operate as the way it was sold through AEG’s advertisement ‘The gas hob is lit automatically when the control turner is pushed and turned, in a single-handed operation ‘clearly this is NOT the case it does not stay burning from a ‘single handed operation’.

The ‘cast iron’ racks which does not remain in tacked with its colour tends to discolour just from simple Tefal pans being placed on whilst cooking. Again the statement made by AEG contradicts what has been stated ‘for maximum stability, pan supports have silicon feet which prevent them tipping or slipping. These supports allow you to slide pans effortlessly off the heat instead of having to lift them.’

Clearly if I was sliding pans off the iron racks it would have sustained even more horrendous markings on the racks. The racks look awful against the black glass and stands out like a sore thumb.

Furthermore the LED lights tend to remain on even once you turn the steel cap knobs off. This clearly shows that the hob has design specification errors.

I am not satisfied with this model as I have clearly stated all the faults although I liked the concept of the black glass however it is apparent that this model has many engineering flaws.

I have now had 5 visits from the engineers to deal with all the issues but the issues seem to be on going.

Hob With Problems

The glass hob looks beautiful and is relatively easy to clean. Only had it three and a half years and the rear burner has gone along with one of the little metal pins which hold the pan supports in place. They are not very secure and seem fragile. Knocked it whilst cleaning and the pin just pinged off. Is going to cost to get it replaced if it can. We went for the higher end of the range thinking we were making an investment might have been better with the cheaper end of the market??

This model was new out when we bought it so no reviews would have been helpful to know about the fragility of the pins in particular otherwise we would not have purchased it.

Do Not Buy This Hob!! We Bought This Model Three Y

Do not buy this hob!! We bought this model three years ago and during this period the metal pins at the back of the hob which support the pan supports began to come away. We now have one pan support without any pins. We have had to buy another section from AEG which will need to be fitted, hence a big bill. There was no come back from AEG as it states in the operating instructions that you have to take the pan supports off in a certain way. In my opinion an obvious design fault. Keep well away to save aggravation.

Good Hob But Cast Rings Around The Outside Of The

good hob but cast rings around the outside of the burners chip and the start to corrode. Must be the heat that makes them chip but that should be part of the design as it is a hob after all. Can be slow to start , have to keep the spark going for about 8 seconds before you can realy let go.

Does look the part and the glass top is easy to clean.
