Enamel Finish Now Dull

Bought the gas on glass four burner hob from B&Q, really wished I hadn't. Hob looks decent enough but don't think it would last too long. Pan racks and cast ring centers seem really poor quality.

First hob the glass was chipped so B&Q replaced it. Second hob now has patches were the enamel has come off and the finish is now dull. Hob has been in place approx. 8 weeks.

Had only ever used a liquid cleaner on the surface. Contacted B&Q who contacted Cata. What a waste of time.

Cata rang me to tell me it was my fault and there was nothing they could do. Won't even send an engineer to look at the problem. They told me it was pan damage, I told them the pans sit on a pan rack so it couldn't be. Changed their to tune to say it was abrasive damage. Told them we don't use abrasives and why the damage more widespread. Changed their tune again to say it is the product we are using, it contains prohibited chemicals. I'd better inform SC Johnson and son that Mr Muscle will damage enamel.

I am passing this back toB&Q as they are my orignal suppliers.

Do Not Buy Cata Products

I bought a CATA gas hob GH600 in May 2016. In Sept 2016 I had Landlord certificate done for the hob as it was fitted in the tenanted property. The Gas Safe man disconnected the hob stating that there is a leak inside the hob. I had to buy another hob and get it fitted.

I went to B & Q where I had bought the gas hob from and they told me that they cannot do anything as the product was purchased more than 45 days ago. They rang CATA repairer for me who were so rude that they put the phone down on B & Q employee so he gave me the number and told me to ring myself. When I rang 0800repair telephone number who I understand are the main repairers for CATA they told me that the engineer has to come and check it despite me telling them that the hob has been disconnected by the Gas Safe man and he has given me the report as well. Please note that the repairer use 0844 number and make money for the pleasure of you ringing them.

The engineer from Capital Repairs came and could not check the appliance as the hob has been disconnected.

B & Q cannot help me despite the product being less than 6 months old when the engineer disconnected it and there is 2 years guarantee and 0800repair cannot help me either as the hob has been disconnected. I am at a loss in the tune of £165 as I had to buy and pay again for the hob to be fitted.

Dangerous

Bought Cata glass gas hob from b & q and was placed in my kitchen by a gas fitter and had a small explosion within seconds when ignited. Took it back the same day and the manufacturer indicated that it would be still safe to put the same product back on the shelf!

Burned Kitchen

We had a cata gashob installed, the next morning I put my casserole to cook something, I noticed the whole hob was getting hot after half a hour, couldn't touch it and the next thing was there was smoke coming from 3 sides under the hob. While I ran outside to dissconnect the gas, the electricity was cut off. Smoke was still there, so I had to put water on it...when they came to remove the hob, I saw the whole bottom was black burned, the wires melted and the kitchen block black burned as well! I never want this brand again!!!

Very Unreliable And Poor Quality Product

I purchase a four gas burner hob from a dealer of Cata C product in Ghaziabad in Dec 2014 and installed it on 3rd Feb 2015. The model is GB-76GSF4D. The hob burners were functionalised by the company person whom we paid the service charges. In few days of working, I found that the flame was so low that it takes ages to even make tea or boil water even at full flame. I called the company engineer again and asked him to increase the flame, again paid the service charges. It worked fine till on 7th Feb 2016, just after one year of its installation, the glass plate beneath the burner cracked and turned into bits and pieces of glass while making chapatis. I was having a get-together lunch at my home and it became so embarrassing. It seems that the glass plate was over heated. But why it should so happen when it is made for cooking only. I tried to complain on that day but no response from customer care. I lodged the complaint next day i.e. on 8 feb. The engineer came after two days and then went back saying that the glass plate would be replaced. Today is 12 Feb and the glass plate has not been replaced yet.

I would recommend nobody to buy this product. I feel that I have spent Rs 14000 on a useless product. Never waste your money on any of that Cata product. Their services are not at all satisfactory.

Ugly Repair

I currently have 2 appliances from CATA via B&Q.

An integrated Frost Free Fridge Freezer & a 4 ring gas hob.

The Gas hob as been temperamental for getting the gas to stay on after the ignition lights the gas. For now I have managed to keep it running by wiggling the tap & it then worked, however I should not have to do this.

I have had 0800 Repair in today to replace the knobs, however the replacement component which has been modified in its design now causes the knobs to stand 8mm proud of the base plate exposing the brass post. This is now leaving it more prone to grease & liquids falling thru into the mechanics of the hob & possible electrical dangers.

800 Repair have informed me CATA couldn't care less that it is no longer cosmetically nice to look at it, it is fixed!! Well now it is a hazard!!!

The minute I say it is not suitable for purpose under the law, CATA run a mile!!!

Can someone advise me what my legal stance is on this matter at all? !!!

Dangerous Product

Our 2 year old hob EXPLODED when we were using 3 rings simultaneously. Literally, the glass shattered and sprayed around the kitchen. Lucky there was no children around or else they could have been seriously injured. The only problem we'd had with it previously was a ring that was difficult to ignite, nothing like this.

NEVER buy Cata. This should not even be possible. Absolutely horrendous.
