The Hinari Steam Supreme is not very durable as the plastic is quite flexible. I'm on my second one because the thermostat on the first ended up switching on and off all the time and spoilt the cooking. The second one now has a broken timer knob which has split where it sits on the timer spindle. I intend to ask Lloyds Pharmacy (Hinari under a Lloyds brand) to get me a couple; if they don't/can't/won't then it is in the bin, I'm afraid. Apart from these problems it has performed well.

My Mum Always Said Steaming Your Veg And Fish Is T

My mum always said steaming your veg and fish is the best way to keep in all those important vitamins. So, for my Christmas present last year I got a steamer! Hey, not the best gift but better than a pair of socks!

**Using The Steamer**

The steamer is quite large and does take up a bit of space. It has clear baskets and a white base. There is a large base unit, to which you then have a dip tray on top, then two steaming baskets, one small the other large and finally a rice bowl.

It's very easy to set up, the baskets just clip on top of each other in the right order. You can use one or two baskets depending on what you are cooking, and depending on the size of food cooking the basket can be small or large.

To start off, you need to wash your veg/meat and then arrange it into the baskets. Before placing them onto the unit fill it up with the correct amount of water, these details are all written down for you in the instruction pamphlet under correct categories e.g. fresh fish/fresh veg.

After correctly doing this, you simply place the baskets onto the unit, put the lid on, and set the time! When your food is cooked, the steamer dings! If cooking several items, the ones that take longer to cook or are larger should be placed at the bottom in the smaller basket. I also find sometimes to cook these items on their own for a short time before adding the other basket on top helps. Be careful to use oven gloves before removing the lid or adding baskets!

**Cleaning and Care**

After using the steamer you need to let it cool down before emptying all the remaining water from the unit. All removable parts should be washed in warm soapy water and then dried. The drip tray, rice bowl, steaming baskets and lid can also be used in a dishwasher on the top rack. You should clean the base unit with a damp cloth and make sure it is clean. The instructions also advise that if you live in a hard water area it is good to clean out with vinegar once in a while. General care of this product is quite easy.

**My Overview**

I love this steamer! I have had no problems with it whatsoever. It's easy to use and the instructions are simple to follow. The pamphlet comes with simple charts on how to cook different types of food and even comes with a few recipes! I find it great for Christmas or those large Sunday lunches, as I prepare my food the night before and store it in the baskets in my fridge overnight!

Do be careful though when removing the lid, I have had several burns from this steamer, but you do learn from your mistakes.

The product comes with a twelve month guarantee.

As this product was bought as a present I'm not sure on price or where it is a available to buy from. They do have a website www.hinari.co.uk but this isn't much use.

Thanks for taking time to read - Lou x

Totally agree with this review. It does exactly what it says on the tin! We got our Hinari Steamer 3 years ago and it cooks veg brilliantly, plus it really does taste better.

It's a genuinely good alternative to boiling, and much less hassle. Fully Recommended.

No faults or problems so far.
