The Culligan Aquadial Softlife Worked Fine For 14
The Culligan Aquadial Softlife worked fine for 14 months [ 12 month warranty ] then started leaking from the overflow. I soon found that No One locally wants to know these machines when they go wrong because they are so problematic, even Culligan wanted nearly £200 to come out and fix it [ with no regard to it being just out of warranty ], then they wanted about a £100 per year for a maintenance plan. Dont buy one [ not even at £399.00 on Ebay ] unless you sign up to the £80.00 a year [ on a new machine ] Culligan extended warranty plan. I bought mine on our plumbers recommendation - we'd had new cenral heating etc. BIG mistake - it was his choice because of the big commission he got from the trade supplier !!So go to an independant water softener specialist for advice, I soon added my Aquadial to the skip full of Culligans he had out the back !!
I to have the same experience as the other posters overflowing in year one and fixed under garentee. Over follows when out of garentee and managed to strip down the valve and fix. Like others no service info seems to be avalable. Now it at it again and recharging every night.
Seems there is one design problem with the units
Time for its trip to the dump and never getting another Culligan.
Update:
I decided to ditch the Aquadial. Couldn't stop the leaking, as it is difficult to source the correct size O-ring in the UK. I'm actually wondering whether the leak is due to poor manufacturing.
Managed to pick-up a second hand Autotrol, as I resent giving BWT any more money. The products are not fit for purpose. Despite only being 3 years old, it's ready for the tip.
I have managed to find the complete manuals and apare parts list for the Autotrol.
If I have any reccomendation, it's to stay away from Culligan
I have exactly the same problem. This first happened two years after installation. Not wanting to pay the ridiculous call-out charge, I investigated this myself. The problem seems to be with the seal around the control mechanism. I cleaned this and replaced it - problem solved. However, 15 months on, it's happened again. I tried the same trick, but it has not solved it. I think the o-ring needs replacing.
Very disapointed with Culligan. I wouldn't be without a water softener. I did pay £399 for mine, but even for this amount, you'd expect better performance.
I took the opportunity to email you with all my details and an explanation of the problems I was having with my water softener quoting the reference above. I did this on the 18th Sept. and you haven't even bothered to reply to me. There seems very little point in your post above unless it's all for show.
I'm afraid you seem to be offering anything but a high level of customer support. and for this reason I would advise anybody looking to buy a water softener to steer well clear of BWT. Their product is of inferior quality to similarly priced water softeners and their customer support stinks.
I am very disappointed to hear that you have not been satisfied by the performance of your water softener. I have logged your comments onto our complaints register using the unique reference number C0422. Would you be so kind as to email BWT on [email protected] quoting the reference number C0422 along with your contact details, this would enable us to review your water softeners service history prior to contacting you to discuss the nature of the problem and how we could help to resolve the current issue and also offer reassurance that BWT respond to all customer complaints and offer customers a high level of back up and service support.
