The Worst Hand Mixer Ever

I have had this mixer for some time now and wish I had returned it to Argos earlier. I have run out of guarantee time. The actual beaters do not stay in. I have tried so many times and it is hopeless. I love the idea of three beaters but it just doesnt work. Is this bad design or my bad luck? Thank goodness I still have my old (nearly thirty years) Kenwood hand mixer.I have mislaid instruction leaflet for the Anthony Worrall Thompson one and would like to get a copy, but cant find one to download. Any help would be appreciated.

My Mother Bought This Mixer As She Is Disabled And

My mother bought this mixer as she is disabled and unable to hold the mixer for long periods of time. The bowl will not go round therefor does not mix the ingredients. The beaters do not reach low enough into the bowl. The beaters are hard to eject from the mixer and the controls are very stiff - scared they will snap off if you use too much force. Unfortunately lost receipt or I would have returned it. Awful product.

I Paid £22 For This Cookworks Power Hand Mi

I paid £22 for this Cookworks Power Hand Mixer in Argos in December '07. Yes, it was one of the cheap ones and I should have remembered that a fool and his money are soon parted. Why didn't I pay twice the price and get a decent model? After one year (and just out of warranty) one of the beaters snapped and could no longer be used. My previous model (about 10 years old) never had that problem.

I searched in vain on the www for a replacement set of beaters and not only could I find replacements but I could not find a website for the model I was looking for either (ModelHM916)

Avoid This Hand Mixer At All Costs! Spend A Bit Mo

Avoid this Hand Mixer at ALL costs! Spend a bit more to ensure quality.

I'm an "up and coming" wannabe chef (!) and thought I'd start out small and cheap with my hand mixers.

Only needed it to whisk up cake mixtures etc initially, so thought this would be perfect for the task at hand.

Upon first use however it is pretty easily understandable why this mixer is SO ridiculously cheap!

It even warns you not to use the Turbo Button for more than 30 seconds!

Although there are five variable speeds for blending, they don't appear to do much. There is only really One Speed setting. The others just make the mixer get more high pitched and whiney, with no apparent change in whisk speed!

All the underside of the mixer (Where the blades push up into) is open and the motor is clearly visible..Which is a worry if food mixtures find their way inside. Impossible to clean in there.

Upon useage also, I noticed that there was a spark visible whenever the mixer was turned on..!? Scarey!

I used this mixer a total of two times (FROM NEW) before it finally gave up the ghost and stopped working..For good..!

I couldn't even be bothered to take it back to Argos for a refund..Hardly worth the petrol costs to drive back into Birmingham for the £4.79 refund! Ended up just throwing it away.

All in all it IS a cheap mixer..VERY cheap..And if it was a bit more reliable it would be well worth the money. But for one/two uses..It's kinda not worth it. Go for a more expensive model. Treat yourself! A friend of mine went for the Dualit Hand Mixer and has NEVER looked back.

I've learned a lesson anyway..Stay Away From Argos Cookworks Products, they're all of a similar quality..And no doubt will all have a similar life span!
