We Installed The Hotpoint Freezer Rza34 In Dec 200
We installed the Hotpoint Freezer RZA34 in Dec 2007 (£190) based on a Which? report which rated it A for energy use, good for insulation, and quiet. It was none of these things. It was very noisy, used 2x the expected electricity and failed completely in Feb 2010, confirmed by an independent specialist (£30)
It only had a 12 month warranty; now we know why. We took out a 1 yr insurance policy through Hotpoint (£165) which covered the replacement in Mar 2010 of a complete compressor unit.(note: £25 less than the new cost). This was even noisier than the first one.
This has also failed 25th Mar 2011. If Hotpoint wont replace free of charge we shall go to the Small Claims Court.

I Would Not Recommend This Freezer If You Intend T
I would not recommend this freezer if you intend to put it in the kitchen, or anywhere else in the house where you can hear it.
I couldn't agree more on your comments. I also find the noise irritating in a quite household - so much so that I'm thinking of asking the shop to exchange for another manufacturer's freezer
