I've had mine over 4 years and it's been a reliable addition. Haven't had to give it any other attention than opening and closing the door. Can't say fairer than that. I've not reviewed service and support as it hasn't needed any.

Very Poor Quality
I purchased this product over three years ago. It work fine for the first year, then started to develop ongoing problems with ice forming inside the appliance. Over the next year several engineer visits were needed to sort it out. After complaining to John Lewis (Nottingham) about its unreliability they replaced it with an identical model. I was assured in the shop that I had been misfortunate as the product was usually reliable. That was over one year ago.
The replacement has recently started to malfunction, and yes it is again due to ice forming on the inside of the appliance.
The guarantee is now out of date as the original three years have passed, and I still don’t have a reliable freezer.
The statement made by John Lewis on its own website: “The John Lewis name is always an assurance of reliable quality, great design and absolute value” in no way compares to my experience of this product.
I am very surprised that John Lewis not only sells such a poor quality product but even puts its own label on such rubbish. Avoid. Avoid.
Same experience- once a year you have to waste three hours with the hairdryer defrosting the bloody thing, engineer replaced a little rubber spout called a conveyor valve, this lets the condensation out but stops moist air creeping in. Only problem is, this valve gets frosted up and bursts. Then moist air gets in and freezes up the inside.
I'm glad we are not the only customer who has had problems with this model. We kept thinking it was us. Ever since we bought the freezer, after about 12 - 18 months, it just kept malfunctioning. We have wasted a lot of good food because of this product, and it is becoming a nuisance; and the problem is that the model is out of warranty.

Only Gripe Is Top Drawer Needs To Be A Shelf But I
Only gripe is top drawer needs to be a shelf but I will modify this with mine. It feels solid and roomy ,it is made in Germany. Very efficient it stays a constant -18 deg. C and is frost free. Fast freeze works well, it is quiet, delivery was excellent and the drivers offered to install it for me. I would recommend.

Need to defrost every 3-4 months manually, holds temperature fine but not self defrosting. Please point in right direction, keeps repeating over and over. What should I do?

the alarm has suddenly come on and temperature shows 11deg. has been running at 18deg. have lost manual so cannot refer to it. any advice why this should suddenly happen? The freezer is now switched off. Thanks
