Good Performance, But It Leaks A Lot
Bosch Sensixx 'x DA70 i-Temp TDA7060GB Steam Iron
Good on removing creases, to be fair, but I would not recommend this iron to anyone because it leaks every time I use it. It is not supposed to do that as it has what is called DripStop. This would suggest that it has been made to prevent it from losing water, but I have found that this is not the case.
The high cost they charge for this iron would suggest that it is going to do what it is claimed to do, but mine has not stopped leaking since it was bought. After over 18 months of persevering with my iron I am going to buy a new one, and it will not be one of those that Bosch make, I'm afraid.
To help me find a steam iron which does not leak I will have to sign up to the Which? website and get the information on irons that have a record of holding on to the water until it is used in the process of steam ironing, and not being dripped over clothes and the ironing board.
I hope this review will help others to know what can happen, as I have found.
Footnote:
Since writing my review on this iron, and waiting for the January sales before replacing it with a new one not made by Bosch, this iron has since burnt out. Loads of steam came from it rising high into the air, and I saw the side melting. Quick as I could I took it outside where it continued to steam a lot.
Moments previously to this I was doing my ironing normally, having rested it between changing the item to be ironed. When I began ironing the next item, a pair of my casual trousers, I noticed the lights were out. As I picked the iron up the lights came on again, in the handle and the temperature display. Then, as I began ironing after the temperature was up to the setting, the mass of steam began and it was quite alarming. The side of the iron was far too hot and the Soleplate began to come away as the plastic sides melted. I am only too glad that it did not actually burst into flames.
I have since disposed of this iron at our local recycling centre. I doubt there was anything left on it that would have been worth recycling. I just hope that my next new iron will be a lot more reliable, in every way.
