Terrible
Do not buy a Hotpoint Aquarius dryer
It breaks down every 4 weeks
Heating element replaced 4 times in 2 years
Constantly breaks down even though it’s under warranty it’s going to the dumper I would rather buy another one than repair it free
Totally useless
Do not buy

12 Years Old And No Problems
Bought this as part of a washer/dryer deal in 2006 so it matches my washer which I liked.
We sited it on top of washing machine in utility room with plenty of airflow around it and it has had plenty of use and occasional abuse when I've miscalculated a load.
Large door opening and as it is on top of my washer I have always found it easy to load/unload and clean filter etc. although I can see it being just as easy to use if left on the floor.
I have used it to dry everything from normal laundry to dog bedding and horse rugs and duvets (even though the instructions say not to put duvets in it) It has always performed well.
Recently had problems with it not drying but it seems to be because I hadn't cleaned the condenser properly after the last load of dog blankets and it was full of hair, reminder to make sure everything is cleaned properly.
So I've realised it's 8 years old not 12 lol

Heating Element
Thermostats went the other week. Got a shark out to fix it. Broke the connection to the heating element. Must say the connection by Hotpoint is the shortest in history for any machine. Guaranteed to break if you do not know what lies behind. All other cable very long with lots of slack. Good dryer but use a Hotpoint engineer.
Still Working But...
Soon after it was bought I needed to wedge the door closed otherwise machine did not go. Then it became noisy. Then the water was not always in the water container but down the shute. The filter is hard to clean. Would not buy again.
Worth Repairing??
Is my drier worth repairing , theres no heat when its on??

Easy To Maintain
Yes; the drier does tend to rattle a little; and yes, it does require maintenance, but the spare parts are cheap and readily available. so our machine is over 10 years old and still going. Off to fit a new heater and thermostat unit later today.
One thing it does not like at all is if you leave wet clothes sitting in the drum for hours. It will refuse to start, or trip the fuse. Empty it and let it dry for some hours, then run it empty for a short period.
There is a plastic section at the rear of the base, where the two hoses enter, and that takes overflow and return water. There is a small passageway inside, and it can clog up, so it needs to be cleaned from time to time (annually, or 2 yearly).
Given the price, I would buy another, but mine is like new because the main parts have been replaced.
Washing machine is the same.

Hotpoint? - Never Again
Never am I buying Hotpoint again. Back in the 80's and 90's they were a brand you could buy and be certain you were getting a quality product. Not any more I'm afraid. My drier has started to show the common fault whereby any attempt to use it results in the circuit breaker for my sockets tripping (look on Google, there are loads of reports of this for the CTD00). The circuit breaker will not reset until I have unplugged the appliance from the wall, leading me to the conclusion it is electrically unsafe. For a 3 year old appliance this is disgusting. Not fit for purpose.

I Just Loved It
I just loved how the dryer worked. Never failed, until about a year ago. I had it for about 5 years(i think that's enough), then it broke and i bot one of the new hotpoints. Was quite noisy, but cheap and very effective. I would always recommend it to friends or family, due to its low price.

Noisy!!!! Sounds Like Heathrow Airport.
SO NOISY!!! I was convinced the bearings had gone (they hadnt) but after a few months I got used to the noise. It was only when I went to a friends house and she had her dryer on that I realised that dryers can be SILENT!!!
One good thing is that the water is very easy to empty being at the top. I have seen some machines where the water is at the bottom and its very difficult to empty them because of the weight.
When ours eventually became too noisy to bear any longer we actually bought a new dryer because sadly it was far cheaper than getting the old one repaired.
I like HOTPOINT generally but this model is crazy!!
Wish I had read some reviews before purchasing but never mind.
Q&A
Where can I find the Aquarius CTD00 spare parts? I need an on/off switch.
I am worried that my Hotpoint Aquarius CTD00 Condenser Dryer could be a fire risk. I have tried to check it out on the Hotpoint website but the model and serial number that I have is not recognised. There is no GREEN DOT inside the door and the model is: CTD00P with a Serv. ref. 953134900000 609080537 number that I think may be the serial number. How can I check this out?
