Jane Slalom Reverse. Bad Idea

We bought the Jane Slalom Revere full of nice expectation after having read all the positive review.

Unfortunately our experience has been extremely negative. the Pushchair is too sturdy and very big/spacious.

It folds with 1 hand only when the seat/car seat is removed. the tires are useless. I don't even remember how many times we had to replace the inner tube because of punctures. of course each tube is very expensive as well. in less than 2 years we had to replace the tires twice as they exploded because they were so worn off.

Customer care is ok. Jane itself do not reply to emails, or phone calls. their customer service is the worst.

I wish I had got a Boogaboo or Quinny...

We Have Had A Jane Slalom Pro With Matrix Cup Car

We have had a Jane Slalom Pro with Matrix Cup car seat for 2 years and we still believe that it is the best combination we have seen, although it is still not perfect.

We chose the Jane system, like many parents-to-be, as we wanted the Matrix lie-flat car seat for long journeys to visit family. The Matrix is excellent, and our daughter found it so comfortable that she was able to use it a few times as an overnight carrycot/Moses basket when we were away from home. Yes, the Matrix is quite heavy, but it is very strong and provides excellent protection for your precious little one. The ratchet system in the Matrix must add weight over a fixed car seat, but it is such a good feature that we still feel it is well worth it.

As for the Slalom, it is a very good product, although it does have a few little niggling flaws. The foot-brake worked loose after about 6 months general usage, and, although it still works perfectly safely, it clicks as you push the pushchair along which is really irritating.

As previous reviewers have said, the luggage/shopping net is pathetically small, especially considering the size of the pushchair, and it is also difficult to get things in/out when the buggy is laid flat.

The front wheel is awkward to remove, but if you want to fold the pushchair down to anything even vaguely compact, it has to come off.

However, most things are good. Although it is quite heavy and is a pretty large unit, it is solidly made and feels built to last. The accessories (raincover, cosy-toes etc) have been well designed. It steers easily and the front disc-brake is a Godsend (we live in Cornwall so we're surrounded by hills). The front wheel steering lock is a useful feature, especially when rocking your insomniac little one backwards and forwards to try to get them to sleep! Our little girl has always been comfortable in it, whether sat up or laid down as it is well padded and rides smoothly.

So, would we recommend this? We have seen numerous travel systems and, not only do we think this is the best design available, it even looks the part too! It's not cheap but there are some decent offers if you are prepared to seek them out. We wouldn't buy anything else.

I Chose To Buy The Jane Slalom Pro With The Matrix

I chose to buy the Jane slalom pro with the matrix cup following LOTS of review reading and generally looking around at prams. The best feature for me was the multi function of the matrix cup which allowed baby to lie out flat when new born and gradually going into sit up position as he got bigger. Although he still lays flat when in the car, as he always falls asleep!

He is 3 months and will be out of it in a month or so, so it doesn't last a great deal of time but the time he has been in it was worth it.

The only down side is that the pushchair element only faces outwards (when you move on from the matrix) whilst other prams can swivel and the matrix is quite heavy. Otherwise everything else is great and highly recommended. Get lots of comments on it.

The Slalom Pro Is A Dream To Push, For The Early M

The slalom pro is a dream to push, for the early months of my childs life we used it with car seat, this was so easy to connect on and go shopping or walking. The large bicycle type wheels make it so easy to use and the front swivel wheel makes it realy easy to steer round shops, tight spaces or literally turn around. The pushchair has a large seat, plenty of room for baby and reclining seat which keeps the posture right. We had the footmuff which gave us a liner throught the winter with fleecy cover, (he looked so snug). The hand brake gave us the piece of mind that we had full control going down hills. Fantastic pushchair, would definately buy it again given the chance (hopefully not too soon though, 1 child is enough for now).

I Love My Jane Slalom Pro, I Have Had Many Many Pr

I love my Jane Slalom Pro, I have had many many prams with my 3 children and this out shines the lot by miles!! I used it from birth with the pro matrix reclined fully and placed a thin matteress in it to increase my son's comfort, then in the various recline positions until 18 months. I would however say how useless I feel the pro matrix is as a car seat, it's far to upright and tips forwards far to easily, it is also a nightmare to put in the car with the seatbelt. The pro rebel is a much better option as a car seat and the pro matrix as a carrycot.

The pushchair is excellent on all terrains, has adjustable suspension and the brake on the handle is really handy. The quick release wheels are brilliant if the pushchair is muddy and can be flicked off quickly and easily, and it folds down quickly.

Overall an excellent buy, quite expensive but look for a good quality second hand one with a new carseat? Worth every penny!

I've Experienced Terrible Problems With Front Whee

I've experienced terrible problems with front wheel, have had to disconnect the front brake as a result but this still hasn't resolved the issue. Am due to take it back for repair again.

The shopping basket is also tiny for the size of the buggy.

My daughter never seems to be sat properly and always seems to be off one one side, I have to keep straightening her up so that she's not scrunched up.

I was generally happy with this pram in the first few months but as my daughter has got bigger and is in the sitting up position more and that coupled with the front wheel problems I am now shopping around for a smaller lightweight buggy which is a shame as this one had great potential.

As We Would Be Living Just Over An Hour Away From

As we would be living just over an hour away from our families when we had our first baby we opted for this pushchair because the travel system included the lie flat car seat.

This Matrix seat was a god send when traveling and having to visit a multitude of relatives. Baby always slept well. However, as my baby was a 9lber when born he grew out of the car seat at 4 months, not the recommended 6. Also whenever we put it in the upright position it looked so uncomfortable. In addition it is an absolute nightmare to fit in the car and take out. However, once fitted and lying flat it's great.

With reference to the pushchair, I love it and now no.2 is on the way I'm sad to give it up. It is so comfy. Loads of room for my baby and the cosy toes is lovely. It goes up and down pavements without any bother and we frequently take it out in muddy, rough terrain with never a problem.

We put ' Slime' in the tires and as a result the punctures haven't been too bad. Despite almost daily use over rough terrain we've only had two punctures. These occurred as the thorn hedges had just been cut. While you can repair most punctures yourself with a bicycle repair kit, I took the tire to a local bike shop who replaced the inner tube for £6(it was riddled with thorns.) It can be expensive if you buy spare parts from Jane directly.

I found that the buggy fitted easily into my boot (I drive a VW Golf) though there was room for little else. However this is the same with my sister's Mamas and Papas buggy.

The rain cover is fine and easily used. It seems to be pretty hardwearing as I was out with the buggy everyday in winter and its still, almost, like new.

The only disadvantages I've found so far are 1.The small shopping basket beneath. However, I'd already read this in reviews pre-purchase so wasn't surprised.2. Now my son is 11 mths old he likes to be as upright as possible to see around him. I find in the highest position the Jane still has a miniscule tilt. However, this is easily resolved by placing a soft blanket, folded in two, behind his back. 3. The recline works by unclipping straps. No problem when going back but they can be a little fiddly when placing baby upright again as his weight works against you. But this still isn't impossible.

I've now tried the Jane twin but have opted to not go for this as the front seat is too small for my son. I love my Jane Slalom pro and would happily buy it again. In fact I'm holding on to this one so that I can return to using it once my son is old enough to walk and I only have the younger baby to push. An expensive option this is true but I found it worth the money as I've never bought a cheaper, lighter buggy for travel, holidays etc. I prefer to use my Jane.
