Worst Credit Card Company Ever. Do Not Use.

Mint are an absolute disgrace as a credit card company. I put in a complaint, which they didn't reply to. I've not received statements. They claim to have sent letters which I never received. The complaint was referred to the Financial Service Ombudsman because of all the problems. The FSO decided that I should be paid compensation. I thought things would then improve, but they didn't so I had to refer it to the FSO again. They've now unbelievably added a charge which they shouldn't have so I'm going to have to go to the FSO again. I did write to Mint, but they just don't listen. You can't e mail them which makes things more difficult.

I've tried to reason with Mint when problems have occurred but they aren't interested and it is only when the FSO get involved that things get resolved. No customer service, no flexibility,

Avoid at all costs unless you are happy to deal with a garbage company who will create numerous problems for you to sort out.

Please Please Avoid This Company!!!!!!!!

Do not use this company I made a purchase for over £850 and the goods never arrived and when I tried to make a claim under the consumer credit act they said I couldn't as it was a telephone transaction, This was after they had already told me to put it in writing (what a wast of time that was!)there customer service is terrible and when I tried to complain it turns out that there complaints department is the same as there chargeback department and absolutely nothing was done about it. It's been over a year now and problem still isn't resolved!

Interest Charged On Daily Basis, Even If You Payed The Bill

I paid my card off in full prior to the due date, yet they still charged me interest! I phoned the customer survice twice about this and both times they said it was because the interest is charged on daily basis! So I guess they have started doing what another reviewer has also said, they charge interest from the day you make a purchase and not from the due date if you miss payment!

AVOID at all costs!!!!

0% Balance Transfer But Interest Immediately On Purchases

My latest MINT Credit Card statement includes an interest charge relating to recent purchase transactions completed since my previous monthly statement. When I telephoned MINT to query this charge, I was advised that interest charges had been applied IMMEDIATELY (i.e. from the transaction date) on my recent purchases because I had an ongoing interest-free transfer balance on my account.

This charge is neither fair nor transparent. I was not made aware that whilst repaying a ‘0% Balance Transfer’, my MINT credit card would no longer operate as a credit card for subsequent purchases and that such transactions would immediately attract interest charges from day one. This is an underhand stealth charge which isn’t disclosed in MINT's ‘0% Balance Transfer’ promotions.

MINT is a business name of The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc (‘RBS’). Under FSA regulations, RBS is obliged to treat its customers fairly; THEY DON'T.

I too had exactly the same problem. Customer Service have told me they are charging interest on daily basis from when you make the purchase! even though I had paid the bill in full before the "deadline", I still had to pay an interest. I phoned twice and the customer service just did not want to know ....AVOID Mint at all costs (I have been with them for many years).

A Lecture On How To Reduce My Balance

I got a letter from MINT asking/telling me to ring a number for a review into how I conduct my account

My account currently has a balance of £4100 ( interest free for 12 months with a credit it limit of £9000)

I was "invited" to increase I was repaying on this card ( last 3 paymnets total £650 --minimum paymnet currently £100 per month)

I was told I would be "be better off" paying back more

As I am on interest free and am a "rate tart" -- ie will move to another interest free I said why --as even with transfer fees I am borrowing at 2.98% per annum APR

Pointed out I could be investing this in an ISA at 3.36 for 1 year

Lecture continued as to this wa snoit worth it --think about it borrow at 2.98 receive 3.36 tax free !!

Was told Credit limit would be reduced --fine

Was going to cancel card at 1st opportunity but decided to drive them daft instead

I bank on line and am in credit so I will be sending them 10+ small paymnets each month to reach the minimum. Then when I transfer at the end of the interest free period I will leave the account £1.01 in credit ( just above the miminimum written off amount)

Why have they got their knickers in a twist

==because credit card companies share end of month balance information

ie they knew the combimd balance on my cards for Feb

--did they bother asking why it had gone up overall??--NO!

The fact that the card I use and pay in full each month had a 29/02/12 liabliity of 6k ( paid off in full on 06/03/12) seemed to have coincerned them

OR WAS IT THAT I HAD JUST TAKEN NATWEST TO THE OMBUDSMAN AND WON --have anything to do with it

NO SOUR GRPAES BOYS --Natwest decide randomly to change my account and MINT decide to ring me -FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

NATWEST CUSTOMER OF 43 years /MINT OF 13 YEARS-

MINT --THE BANK WITH A HOLE!!

Excellent review "Mint the bank with a hole". That said, I have been with them for over 10 years and they saw me through some though times and stood by me when others pulled the plug.

Rubbish Service!! Avoid!!

I have just paid off the balance left on this card in full - and will never use MINT/RBS again, because:

Earlier in this year they cashed a cheque payment I sent them for £50 for £5000 in error. Fortunately, my own bank quickly got the cheque declined and were very helpful. Unlike MINT. I called them after contacting my own bank and spoke to a man with all the customer service skills of a dead slug. He offered no apology or explanation for their mistake and was only interested in taking a payment for my account over the phone. After pushing the complaint he finally suggested writing to them. Which i did straight away but six weeks letter I had no acknowledgement of the complaint at all. I called MINT again, spoke to someone who was more helpful, who apologised and refunded £10 to my account. He suggested writing to them again with my complaint but I never received a response again. Not a company that values customer statisfaction obviously.

The other issue was that I had no online access to the account or automated phone service as I closed the account to freeze the interest while the balance was repaid. I could request online access to the account but as soon as I'd set it up the online service was closed to me automatically overnight. I can't see any good reason for this.

So basically MINT can get stuffed and would not recommend them to anyone!!

Sent Numerous Aoutomated Phone Calls And Removed C

Sent numerous aoutomated phone calls and removed credit limit from £7000 to £350 for late payment of a £6.37 minimum payment and balance on the account-

Sent 5 letters about this amount all took 9 days to arrive - 8 days after i had cleared the balance

I have been a customer since they set up with no problems.

They must have spent £50 chasing £6.37 - If thats respomsible business then

you could fool me. Wont be using them again

Following A Consumer Dispute Regarding A Product P

Following a consumer dispute regarding a product purchased on my Mint card, Mint refused to help. Following empowering a solicitor to act on my behalf it was revealed that Mint, (despite attempts to wash their hands of the problem) had a legal responsibility involving Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. Mint made life difficult.
