!!!!!!!!!avoid At All Cost !!!!!!!!!!!

!!!PLEASE PLEASE READ ALL THE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS AWFUL COMPANY BEFORE YOU OR ANYONE YOU NO INSURES WITH THEM !!!

Daughter insured with them due to there best quote on a comparison sight.

As a student money is tight so there quote was the best she could find. Like so many others on this review site she got a call to say that due to a mistake with a date of purchase of the car, she now had to pay an additional £177 extra which includes a £50 admin fee. This is three weeks after the policy commenced so no option to cancel and choose a different company without paying out even more money on cancellation fees.

Customer service just passing the buck to and fro, no interest whatsoever in the customer just extremely rude and unhelpful.

Avoid this company and go with someone else. there are better insurers out there and remember cheapest quote is not always the best.

Read Every Page Of The Agreement

I bought a Mini a couple of months ago to teach my daughters how to drive. I insured the car with 1st Central. When they turned 17 I tried to add them to the policy but the company refused to insure them. I asked to cancel my policy and they've charged me £50. Apparently the fee is noted on page 7 of the customer agreement. I think that's outrageous. They should warn customers of the cancellation fee before they commit to the policy on the payments page. Don't touch them with a bargepole.

Left Without Vehicle Still Saying Part Liability

Avoid this company at all costs pay a little extra for better services.

After been hit from behind whilst stationary and having my car deemed a total loss ...I'm still down as partly liable even though 3rd party admitted liability and I have an independent witness I've been left with no courtesy car and a pitiful settlement fee ...this company does not act in its customers best interests avoid avoid avoid

Intentionally Preventing Policy Cancellation

Policy cancellation made intentionally difficult. Their own system does not process this properly and it is concluded that this is deliberately so to avoid the policy being cancelled through that platform and thus incur further cost. Assistance via live chat is equally as obstructive and unnecessarily prolonged. Repeated requests for transfer to a senior manager are declined and details of their complaints procedure had to be asked for on several occasions. Attempts to block that. My experience of 1st Central Insurance has been awful.

God Awful! Beware Of Buying From Them

Anyone considering purchasing car insurance from 1st Central, beware! Initially, their policies appear to be the cheapest on the market, but they drastically increase the cost once the policy starts. They conveniently wait until a month after your policy begins, just after the cooling-off period has passed, to raise the price. This happens even though they've been provided with proof of your No Claims Discount (NCD), claiming they can only verify some of it.

If you try to cancel your policy early, they'll ensure you pay two sets of admin fees, even if you only cancel the extras you've added. Expressing that this is unreasonable will result in their online chat personnel threatening you with debt collection agencies right away. Additionally, if you ask to speak to a manager, the staff often disconnects the call, forcing you to start the process over.

This company has been a nightmare to deal with, and I strongly warn anyone considering their insurance. My cancellation cost was £181, on top of the £50 admin fee I had already paid, despite my annual insurance cost being around £480. It has been the worst experience I've had with an insurer in nearly ten years.

Unethical

Do not touch. Auto Renew you can't turn off, chat that doesn't work, no phone numbers unless claiming! Activating a policy before old one (with them) has expired then charging fee for cancelling an "active" policy. Should get email one month in advance then two weeks in advance. only received two weeks before renewal, then no way of turning off auto renew and policy almost doubled despite no claims. Just keep saying i should have turned off auto renew. They said I should have pressed the "turn off Auto Renew" button. Except there wasn't one. New policy not started but they had it as "Active" online several hours before it came into force thereby forcing cancellation rather than blocking auto renew. Will be taking to ombudsman. £50 admin fee!!!!! The "admin" fee is for registering the policy once it has started. I cancelled before it renewed or came into force and still charged, because I had been "Notified".!??

For Anyone Not Aware Of This, As We Weren't.. If Y

For anyone not aware of this, as we weren't.. if you claim for repairs due to an RTC and don't want to use a repairer that 1st Central tell you you must use, they will charge you £250!! And that's extra!! £250 charge just to go somewhere else?! What a joke! I have looked right through the policy and there are no numerical values mentioned anywhere, so they think they can add charges any time they wish and as much as they wish! My advice to anyone signing up to 1st central? Don't!

Having also spoken to 4 different people who were happy to speak to me as a named driver on the policy, and confirmed ALL security questions, I went to raise a complaint about this, only to be told that the previous 4 people broke DPA as I could not apparently speak about the policy! Wow! Let's see how they handle a DPA breach complaint moving forwards!

Don’t Do It

There’s a reason why they’re so cheap, it’s because they couldn’t care less about customer service. A bunch of monkeys can do a better job than this company.

I had a car crash and they messed up by sending cheque to wrong company, because they paid out they took the courtesy car off me as mine couldn’t be repaired due to hitting a tree and having to have 2 doors taken off. I was telling them my finance company hadn’t received the cheque for weeks and they still refused to reissue it or send by bank transfer. Took over a month for them to finally send by bank transfer.

Even the complaint process is a joke, I was charged for having to change my car and then moved house and charged again. Live in a better street and have proper drive way and insurance still increased.

Don’t go to them I can’t wait to leave and have made sure my auto renew is off. I’m happy to pay the extra for another company than to ever touch them again. Honestly pay the extra costs to save the hassle that you’ll have if you ever need to make a claim

Q&A

Deborahgw67

Does anyone know how to get the CEO's email address for 1st Central Insurance?

Christinebidwell

My son received a letter as he missed a payment. The letter said to pay by the 8/10, we paid on the 7/10 and the insurance was cancelled on 6/10 which was on another letter we hadn't received. He didn't check his emails as he had lost his phone. Spoke to an advisor who said if we paid more money today you could reinstate the policy and refund us what we paid on the 7/10. I can't understand why we would need to do that as they already have our money and why send 2 letters out with different dates on obviously we only have their word on this. What should we do?

Fikung

I'm a new driver and had been with 1st central 4 months and I was rear ended, at no fault off my own, when ringing them to make the claim I was told there is a 21 day period if the 3rd party doesn't accept fault in the 21 days or says he wasn't there etc that it will then be flip to I'm making a claim on my account so I lose my no claims bonus, I don't see how this is right! What should I do?

Mebs

1st central looks more like a sham insurance, have you ever read any decent feed back about this company,

it is a fact you cant cancel your insurance because it takes them over two years to close a case,

it is a fact a body shop can repair a minor incident in a rear hit car for a 250 pounds, but 1st central can only do it for 1,250 pounds, so they will try to write off your car, snd rip you off aggressively.

What's 1st Central Car Insurance terms and conditions when it comes to having a c-section? Is it okay to drive if your doctor gives the go ahead or do they like you to wait the full 6 weeks?

bevn65

If my daughter is a named driver on my car insurance and works, what insurance do we need?

Tarass

I am customer of theirs for almost 2 years. Now I want sell my car and buy another one. What I have to do? I checked the price on the Gocompare website and there it says I will pay £90 per month for a new car. At this moment I pay £95. So how does it work if I buy a new car?

Thanks.

uldis30

If I sell my car, and buy another car, will my insurance be cheaper?

sabrecom

check out the insurance group the car is in before you buy the car, it will save you a headache when it comes to get insurance, the lower the insurance group the cheaper the insurance cost

VaidasB

Can I use somebody's else account to pay for my car insurance?

sabrecom

yes as long as it is with their permission, lol

Help, does anyone know how I can complain about how a claim is being dealt with?

My father had an accident in Portugal over 3 weeks ago and is still waiting for a decision to be made. Luckily their trip was for 4 weeks and have been able to stay there but now its coming up to their return date and 1st Central have not been helpful at all.

Firstly no one in their call centre knew the process how to take or deal with a claim for a accident abroad, then they forgot to send the report to their international contacts so an inspection of the vehicle could be done. Now an inspection has been done (after I chased and got them to send the report), they said it will take another 15 days for them to get the report.

The damage is superficial and not mechanical and the garage said they could do a make safe repair for 150 euros so the car can be driven to UK (meaning the whole family can come home) but 1st central are yet to respond if they will authorise this.

Any advise would be great.

sabrecom

the ombudsman is a waste of space and not fit for purpose, 4 years on still having problems will churchhill even with CCTV evidence they will simply find any excuse to not pay you because they know you can't do anything, we need a serious change in the law
