Early Cancelation

This is a warning to anyone wanting a short term insurance policy.

I informed Bluefin that I only needed temporary cover while my house was being sold.

In the end, I only needed three months cover for building only.

The following figures are approximate:

Insurance £175

Fee for setting up insurance: £27

Three months insurance:£65

Few for not signing credit agreement: £10 (between the two companies, they set up a credit agreement without my approval)

Cancellation fee £50

Claiming lost commission £43

Difference in refund from insurance £14

Total for three months insurance: £185

Their response: we didn't know how much commission we were making and couldn't confirm the penalties for terminating early.

Next step - financial ombudsman

There When Needed

I've been with bluefin for nearly 20years. in March 2014 our business burnt down. Bluefin at Stockton saw this on the news on the Sunday and called my mobile immediately even tho they were closed. A meeting was called between us 9am the next day three weeks later we had reopened in new premises thanks to this company. All payments were prompt and never ever questioned. Bluefin Stockton have been absolutely superb and saved our business. Thanks bluefin

Overcharged By Thousands

Bluefin have provided poor value quotes and in one case, a business professional indemnity insurance, overchanged us by thousands. They are sloppy and make endless mistakes - you have to check up on them all the time, otherwise you will end up with invalid insurance - as well as paying more than you need.

They just have no shame! Very poor.

Awful

Following card theft our bank account was cleared out so bluefine did not get their payment. I happened to check my e mail account and found a message from premium credit saying bluefin had cancelled the insurance. They should have informed us in writing by post because sometimes I do not check my e mail for a few days. As a result we had been using the car with no insurance for 3 days.

Don't Change Your Mind, You Won't Get Your Money Back

i run a mobile cycle repair business, i took out a business account with santander who put me on to bluefin for my business insurance.

at first i was happy with bluefin as they managed to find me a reasonably priced quote and managed to get the documents emailed to me straight away and the payment side of things was relatively easy.

3 days later (technically 1 working day though) i found a quote for 1/3 less.

so, i rang bluefin (i actually was given a direct dial number by santander for an individual member of staff at bluefin) and asked if i could cancel my policy as i had now got one cheaper 'no problem' they said.

i was told that the money would be in my account in '5-7 working days' (a phrase i have heard many times from blufin over the last 2 months)

7 working days later and the money had not appeared, so i gave bluefin a call who said that there had been some sort of error and it would be another '5-7 working days' - 7 days later i call again.

bluefin tell me that the issue is not with them, it is with the insurance company, who have told them they will not be refunding me as they 'don't do refunds' - at this point i reminded bluefin of distance selling regulations and that i had cancelled the policy within 1 working day, bluefin then told me that the insurance company that hadn't received the cancellation request within 7 days ???

'leave it with me' i was told, so i did, for another 5 or so days.

i rang them again to be told that the insurance company was not going to pay bluefin back, so bluefin would have to pay me, which would take, you guessed it '5-7 working days' - another 5 days later i ring bluefin to hear that they are processing my refund and the money would be in my account that day.

it wasn't.

since then i have been fobbed off numerous times with the same old tosh and today i am starting a more serious approach, starting with a threat of getting the ombudsman involved - then possibly stronger action with the small claims court.

IN SHORT, MAKE SURE YOU ARE GOING TO BE HAPPY WITH THE POLICY/SERVICE YOU REQUIRE FROM BLUFIN, AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE YOUR MIND.

Trials And Tribulations Of Bluefin Car Insurance

Time came to renew the wifes motor insurance due to expire in two weeks time. Coincidentaly this came about at the time my wife was changing cars. As one does, I compared prices on the new vehicle. Her current insurance had allready increased by 18% (while our pensions remain static)and I found Blue fin were planning quite a hike over the more competative quote I had established. Then my problems started. In order to cancel the two remaining weeks of the Bluefin insurance a charge of £50.00 would be made. Suddenly the alternative quote plus this ammount matched the new Blufin quote. It didn't stop there, in order to change the vehicle details over, an admin fee of £36.00 would also be applied. Now it was cheaper to purchase the alternative quote and pay the cancellation charge. After numerouse phone calls and eventually talking to someone with a degree of authority a deal was struck which was acceptable to both sides, at least until next year.

On the positive side, it was pleasant to talk to someone who speaks clear English and had a sense of humour. Blue fin score highly here and for ease of access.

Customer Service? You Must Be Joking!

My wife was with Bluefin Car Insurance until recently but has now changed to a new insurer due to a change in job circumstances.

In order to verify her NCD eligibility she needs to provide documentation to the new insurer - and do you think that Bluefin can provide this? Not a chance!

Repeated telephone calls - when they can be bothered to answer - and numerous emails have resulted in nothing. It's now a month later and there have been no answering calls or emails and no sign of any documents through the post.

The new insurance company are understandably getting a little bit 'miffed' about the situation and threatening penalties (removing the NCD completely!) but still Bluefin are acting ignorant.

Apparently, they are part of the AXA Insurance group so heaps of shame on them too! :-(
