Hiscox Classic Car Insurance

My car was in an accident, Hiscox classic car insurance refuse to offer replacement value (proven by extensive adverts, and pre accident photographs) they also refuse to repair the car, or to deliver it for inspection at a garage of my choice, but offer it back to me with a cat d marker against it unrepaired. They ignore every scrap of evidence I give backing up my claim and are very unhelpful. So much so I am cancelling my 5 other policies with them and paying extra to switch to another firm.

No one likes spending money on insurance - in fact a whole industry of ridiculous advertising has strung up to try to convince us that we can have it all and still pay peanuts.

If anyone is silly enough to go for that approach then that is their business, but I would rather pay a little more and use a company that doesn't spend a fortune telling me they are cheap - so they effectively have to scrimp on the actual cover.

It not until you actually have a claim that you realise your silly Meerkat or Opera star insurance isn't worth what you thought. I have, unfortunately, just had a to make a claim with Hiscox and (although I have never reviewed anything) I felt moved to commend them publicly for the top notch service I received.

The call centre staff (all UK based I believe) were friendly, calm and patient (which is just the tonic during a time of heighten nerves).

Processing of my claim was quick (other than some signed paperwork through the post office) and painless, and they have the very welcome knack of making you feel like you are the only claim they are dealing with.

Given the circumstances I don't think I could have had a better experience and higher premiums pale into insignificance within this bigger picture.

Excellent Service, more expensive than competitors however hiscox is well worth the greater expense. Brilliant.
