Disgraceful Company

Wouldn't even give then a one star review if I could. Had trouble with them last year when they refused to pay out. Caused me so much stress and depression at the beginning of the year. Ignoring me for months then saying we wont give you anything. Fobbing me off with a couple of hundred when the repairs to my house were in the thousands. Then on my automaic renewal they put the monthly payment up to 45 pounds and took two payments in one month. 90 pound for one month! Making me go over my overdraft. I looked around for a cheaper deal found one offering the same for half the price. Phone them up to see if they could give me a better deal. After the process of checking prices they offered me the same policy as my renewal for an extra 300 on top of what they ofered on the renewal offer. 700 pound a year. I asked them to explain and was told that's just the way things are but you can keep your current quote. I got the other one policy off a comparison site with another insurance firm. Then cancelled this extortionate incompetent company insurance. Im absolutely disgusting in them and the way I've been treat by them, glad to see the back of them.

I Have Home Emergency Cover But Can Not Claim

I have home emwegency civee with swinton bit I could notclaim after i experienced qater leak through my ceilings. I have been paying for swinton via direct debit for more than 8 years, but when I made.a claim I was told that I don have a valid insurance policy, I valled to diacuss tje matter and after waiting.on the phone for 45.minutes I managed to speak to customer service and she told me she can not find my policy and adviced me to contact Swinton home insurance and ask them to give confirmation to jome emergency unit, I waited for another hour and finally they start to process my claim.

I was told that an engineer will contact me with in two hours, then anitjer lady.called me and said they can not send Engineer/Plumber , and she told me me to wait until Monday. I was left with a keaking ceiling from Saturday to Monday.

I spent 4 or 5 hours trying to claim as my claim was getting rejected again and again, I had to make 5 phone calls to sort out tje issue, they did not have difficulty taking money via direct debit from my account but they can.not find.my policy on their.system.

Its bizarre , very disorganized, the issue is not resolved ceiling is leaking , I have to shut water supply to the house, if this is not an Emergency what then? We are a family of four , I have two children ....very disappointing, I am very pessimist they wont be able to resolve the issue, if that is the case I will get a plumber myself and resolve it and then say goodbye ti Swinton home emwrgency cover.

Home Emergency Cover

I we have gold cover the boiler was leaking from the boiler which i informed swintons they sent a plumber out this was Friday 22 October the plumber who by law not allowed to work on the boiler .I had to ring on Tuesday 26 October they said they would send out engineer on Wednesday 27 October he did not turn up ,they said can’t we get engineer can’t get one to us .

This problem was supposd to be sorted in 24 hrs ,the said the part is not covered that has gone even thou is says on gold cover it says on paperwork cover per call out parts and labour is 1500.

Don’t use them got this sorted by myself .

The Worst Service Ever

Had no hot water for 2 weeks, myself and family are shielding due to covid 19,then to be told that the boiler can't be fixed. Engineer refused to wear a mask when entering the house,so we asked him to leave, rung swinton and did nt care. Would not recommend using them as a company for this service.

Stay away from them as no customer service and the company they use is worst as engineers don't have a clue rude.

Swinton Gold = No Hot Water Or Heating For 10 Days

Swinton Home Emergency Insurance - no hot water or heating for 10 days despite having GOLD cover!

Very poor service, boiler broken so no hot water, no heating & 2 children & a baby at home! I have Gold cover but it means nothing.

Swinton offered up to £200 so we could stay in a hotel until they fix it. £200 won't pay for 10 days for 4 of us & it's not the preferred option.

Boiler needs a new printed circuit board which is readily available online from numerous reputable suppliers with guaranteed next day delivery for under £100.

Swinton know this, yet their service people can't get the part until next week which means this will have taken 10 DAYS to fix!!

Swinton home Emergency policy offers a 24 hour helpline, but no promise to fix anything within 24 hours. BEWARE & LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR EMERGENCY COVER AS THIS ISNT IT.

this is a bad company to swindle people. my concern is that are they allowed to do this. i have home insurance with them. i had a broken roof tile which caused a leak in one of my bedroom. the surveyor came and said the felt is the problem. did not inspect the roof', just glimpsed from the entrance of the loft and said i know what the problem is. this is my second experience with this attitude of looking for a get away clause. just do not buy this insurance- unreliable and disapointing

This Company Is Terrible I My Self Am Insured Thro

this company is terrible I my self am insured through open and direct somehow someone with a policy from this company managed to use my bank details and help themselves with 73pounds of my money I thought policy and company holders like this had to ask security questions before making a transaction to make sure they are legit well somehow this isn't the case I contacted them to speak about the matter they told me they've never heard of me I rang my bank and my money has been refunded but Swinton house didn't even apologise they simply said " it looks like someone has used your bank details if you contact the bank they will refund you" I assured them I did and they said they where closing the case didn't even look into it further to see who had used it so they could cancel there policy instead they will probably try to lift the next instalment from my bank * even though my account is cancelled so GOOD LUCK TO U! terrible company and not even a apology!! I'm appalled they could let someone do this and not even look into there policy to get it cancelled instead they close the case !! well if it happens again I will be away to my local authority!

We had been with Swinton for a year and missed our renewal date, at which point they wanted to charge us more than double what we had been paying.

Spoke to numerous people, kept being put on hold, never rang back when they said they would. Trying to renew with them took nearly a whole day.

Finally found a much more reasonable quote with the Post Office which took less than half an hour.

Avoid Swinton like the plague. Unprofessional, unhelpful, untrained and generally rubbish!

Shocking Customer Service!!!

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!

Had existing policy and tried repeatedly to get through when we were due to move home to transfer details to new address. First two calls they couldn't access the system, third time cut me off. Ended up taking many calls to finally cancel my home contents policy, only to be charged £50 for the privilege of doing so!!! Will NOT be using again!!

I agree that the with the first two calls this was unacceptable as they should have been able to find your details and being cut off is also poor and not good for the customer but as for the cancellation fee this would have been explained to you when you took out the policy.

I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Swinton Insurance.

It's All In The Small Print !!!!

I suppose I took the cheapest (ish) policy out for a flat I was renting. I unfortunately only stayed for 6 months and the policy was for 12. On cancelling I was told that I had to pay a penalty for early cancellation. The usual stuff. However what I couldn't believe was that it amounted to twice the amount I had left to pay on my policy! How I asked? Because it's in the terms and conditions I was told. I then said “oh well just leave it then and I'll pay it off as I was originally at 4.50 a month”. “No” I was told you’ve informed us that you’ve moved out.

You know I get the penalty stuff but what I think is appalling is that not only are they no longer having to insure my home they want to charge me more than I had left to pay to cancel the insurance. I truly do not understand what the hell I am paying for. What am I getting? I suppose it’s a typical money spinning exercise? Exhausted tel conversation. IT’S ALL IN THE SMALL PRINT. Argh

Unfortunately cancellation fees are standard with any Insurance policy you take out and sometimes you do have to pay more than you did for the policy.
