Nfu Pet Insurance Was Brill Then Failed Me!!
I have had my pet and home insurance with NFU for 15 years despite paying over the average i have stayed loyal and and they have always paid out and were quick with claims.
Last year i recieved a letter saying now my pets were senior over 10 yr i would need to pay double my excess rising to £105 per claim. i was accepting of this for both my dogs given they were 12.
i have now just recieved a letter just as im about to renew my insurance saying due to the age and excess claims on my pet insurance they will no longer pay for illness or vet fees!!!
I am disgusted...... both my pets are now 13yrs oand one i have only ever made 4 claims in that entire time... how is this excessive?
be warned before taking out any NFU insurance the change their policies every year and do NOT obviously cover your animal in old age. its a waste of money and not only is their health not cover i refuse to pay the premium they are asking for public liability only....
i now cannot insure my animals with anyone else due to their age.
I have had the same from NFU. I have had my two dogs insured with them one for 13 years and the other for nearly 11 years and until this year I have not had a claim, for either dog. Last year my insurance was £950.29 for the year and the previous year it was £854.83. They have written to me saying that because of the age of my 13 year old dog they would not insure for illness. I spoke to them and they told me that the policy was not a life time policy and after 10 years of age they don't usually insure dogs. I asked why they had insured my dog for the last 3 years and they informed me they had done so as I hadn't had a previous claim, so they are happy to take my premiums when I don't claim cashing in at my expense and now they just dump me. This is absolutely disgusting and something should be done to expose this scandal.

Nfu Are Brill
I have had horse, dog, cat and household insurance with NFU and they have been great. i have a dog with various on going issues and they have paid out everytime without fail. my horse has never needing any medical treatment for 9 years of owning him but recently had lameness issues and NFU have so far been understanding and very helpful. I will never change my policies as I find the 10 time better than some of the pet insurance companies on the market.

We Tried To Claim But Our Insurance Had Expired, D
We tried to claim but our insurance had expired, decided to review but because we called into claim first they waited for two weeks before not calling us to tell us they had cancelled our insurance for trying to claim and misleading them.
First contact with them last year was great, local, any hoping for anything from the call centre in Glasgow will get nothing. They just seem to want to cover their own backs, lie and upset customers.
Left my wife in tears after accusing her of trying to commit fraud. Don't be fooled by the local prescense its head office you need to fear if you ever have to claim. Stay away.
Not sure how someone expects to claim when they have allowed their policy to lapse. No wonder the insurance company staff wondered what was going on. It's difficult to feel much sympathy. Presumably if they get burgled they will then take out home insurance & expect to claim?

Set Up
Set up insurance today at my local office for a new farm collie ( we already use NFU Insurance ) Hassle free and friendly local service. Policy added to our farm insurance so no further direct debit to set up. Excellent service from friendly, local office with no overseas call centre rubbish as with others.

I Had My Horse Insured With Nfu And They Were Very
I had my horse insured with NFU and they were very professional and helpful when I took the policy out until I made a claim.
My horse was bucking badly and was unrideable but after having various tests by vets and the horse being sent to the AHT they could find nothing wrong with him!!!!
When I tried to claim from NFU (who had authorised all the treatment) I was told that as it turned out to be behavioural they would not pay a penny, pray tell me how do you find out if it is behavioural without having tests??
I would never every insure anything with NFU again.
It had tests and they found nothing wrong with him...then surely it is behavioural?

Nfu Pet Insurance Unjustified Cancellation
ive had two dogs insured with nfu for thirteen years and a number of equine. both my dogs are in good condition and well looked after in those thirteen years they have only had a handful of small claims between them. out of the blue the other day have been sent a letter telling me that they will no longer be insuring my dog...he has no health issues the last time im claimed for him was 5 years ago when he had an arguement with a barb wire fence and the claim was minimal. because he is now over 10 years i will struggle to get an insurance and since he has been declined now it will be near impossible for me to insure him. even my local nfu have been unable to tell me why he will no longer be insured. over the past 10 years or so the nfu have have well in excess of £10,000 in premiums from me for horses, dogs, farm building and houses so i am more than a little upset by their stance now...DISGUSTING TREATMENT SND SERVICE.

I've Got 3 Dogs Insured With Nfu, All Went Well, R
I've got 3 dogs insured with NFU, all went well, reasonable price, good cover and paid out a couple of small claims fine. Then, this year I claimed 4 times in total for 2 dogs, 1 was bitten by a stray dog, and then she fell and had to have her leg amputated, my other dog had a tooth abscess and strained ligaments, both small claims. They doubled the excess from £50 to £100 and the premium went from under £500 a year to £1,000. They said it was because I'd claimed 4 times, which considering I've got 4 dogs on the policy doesn't seem unreasonable to me. The last 2 claims went through very slowly and I had to keep ringing them and get vet to re fax receipts 3 x as they denied getting them. I am disgusted at the service, although they give a no claims discount I've never seen the price drop in years when we've not claimed but now it's all doubled because we needed them. Have now moved 2 to other companies but can't move one because she may need treatment as a result of her loosing her leg, which to be fair they did pay out quickly and covered hydro and physio for her.
Great price if you don't need to claim!

Horse Insurance Policy - After A Big Claim For An
Horse insurance policy - after a big claim for an accident involving my horse - without notice they cancelled the insurance. I tried to follow up with their Complaints Team, and involved the Financial Ombudsman as well. They said they would reinstate it, but they didn't. After endless calls and emails (all were ignored) - I finally got one last email from them to say that they changed their minds and will not reinstate it. They said they could only offer me a new policy which would NOT cover any pre-existing conditions.
They are a***holes...completely unprofessional. I will be finding another insurer.

I use this company for a lot of my insurance needs because they are just so easy to use.
