Overdraft Removed

At the beginning of my third year of a four year course, I recieved a call from collectors saying I owe Lloyds £999 as I no longer have an overdraft facility (but couldn't advise me why this was). After going to the branch I found out this was removed as I had not paid money into the account for 3 months (not having had a loan installment for that amount of time and struggling to find part-time work!) After endless letters of complaint and speaking to numerous incompetent customer service advisors I am still having to repay the overdraft ad they are refusing to re-instate it for my fourth year. Due to being passed to collectors, I cannot even apply to a different bank for a student account, so Lloyds have left me in a horrible position, where I am sacrificing my degree to work endless hours and repay them in the middle of my teaching course!

Would not reccommend to any student - in fact, stay well clear!!

I found this review not helpful because...

If you have an interest and fee-free Planned Overdraft limit as part of your account you won't pay the £5 fee or interest if you stay within this limit or exceed it by £10 or less. Interest and fee-free overdrafts are available on the following products;

My Son Has A Student Account With Them He Went In

My son has a student account with them he went in his third year at uni he went £40 overdrawn(first time ever) they charged £20 for a returned standing order,unplanned over draught monthly fee £15 and charged £15 for each day he was overdrawn.Seems very unreasonable,heavy handed and excessive. Dont know how they get away with it I guess students are easy targets.

I Had Been Banking With Lloyds Tsb Since I Was 14,

I had been banking with Lloyds TSB since I was 14, I am now 21 and have recently applied for a student account. I have a regular steady income, a few direct debits all paid without fail each month including a lloyds tsb loan and credit card! I went into one branch, the guy was very slow on the computer and after a phone call told me without being able to say why that I had been declined a student account. A couple of days later I went into another branch and had better customer service but the same result, so the guy said he would appeal my application and get back to me within 48 hours. 10 days later I've still heard nothing so I will definately be switching to another bank, I think Barclays looks a good bet as they only have good reviews so far for student accounts. I was very unhappy with lloyds tsb and they will be losing a customer who has been with them for 7 years!

Recently Went Into My Local Bracnh Of Lloyds To Up

Recently went into my local bracnh of lloyds to upgrade my current account to a student account (i've been banking with them for 4 years). i gave all the necessary deatils and information and after the lady had made a call, she told me i was in fact refused a student account and couldn't explain why. she told me if my parents had accounts with them, then they might be able to sort something out. just to clarify, im almost 20 and have been in control of my banking for years. she was very apologetic about it and said shed never had it happen before but could not or would not give me a readon as to why i was being refused a student account. im in the process of setting up a student account with natwest, and needless to say, i shall be closing my lloyds account asap!

I Had A Barclays Student Account Which I Closed Af

I had a Barclays student account which I closed after two weeks and switched to my LLoyds tsb account as it had better perks for students. I went in and they said there was a glitch with the system so I had to set up a new account which took five minutes and they gave me a credit card with a £750 limit on it and £500 straight away with my student account. After 6 months I can extend it to £1000 and after a year £1500 and two years £2000 and if I go over the limit its only 6% EPR for the year. I recieved a free NUS card which they will supply me for three years. I looked up the barclays account and they said if I want to extent it they ask several personal questions on why and they only provide a £200 overdraft where as Lloyds say I can call them or pop in and they will extent the overdraft without any personal questions. I am very pleased with the service so far and I would recommend Lloyds to anyone and not recommend my old trusted bank Barclays.
