R1200rs

Hi I would to tell everyone about this bike I brought from ocean bmw, I brought a r1200rs in April for £8900. Wen I picked it up and rode it home back to barnstaple I noticed wen I put it in to the bends it wanted to throw me off , so wenni got home I phoned them up and explained and they said the rear tyre had 3 mm on so its fine , but wen looking at tyer I noticed it looked like a 50 p piece shape was terrible. So I took bike bk and mechanic test rode it and said same as me but ocean were having none of it . Cut a long story short we agreed to go half each on a new one . BUT then wen I picked bike up in my van and got home I stated engine and service light came on so I phoned them and they said and ? I then said iv had the bike 6 months it came with a service and 12 months mot and they said no I had 6 months service left and 10 months mot . Wen I brought bikes from other dealers like bridge of exeter they always did a service , new mot and 2 new tyres they no how to look after there customers . So I will leave it up to you out there on what you think I should do.

Excellent Service

I would just like to thank he person I dealt with and the team at Ocean BMW Motorrad for fantastic 6k service on my R1200 GSA.

As I have found on all of my previous visits to Ocean BMW, the staff are professional, friendly and only too willing to go that extra mile to help you out.

The service price was good and the free bacon sandwich and coffee while you waited, was even better.

Well done Ocean BMW Motorrad Plymouth.

No Dealer Support.

I Have been riding for over 30 years, And over that time i have owned over 20 bikes, I purchased my first GSA from North oxford who seemed pretty fair, I then moved to Devon and needed to access a nearer dealer, So that was Ocean Motorrad, I had Corrosion issues on both the GSAs, the one from North Oxford [2010]and the One i purchased from Ocean, [2012] I also had a clutch start slipping at 18000 miles, [ I have never had a clutch go on any of my M/cycles ]I got absolutely no support from Ocean Plymouth and BMW customer service [ who basically emailed Ocean and was told what i was told ] They have yet to realize what customer support is! Both Ocean and BMW.

I will never put another penny through Ocean after them charging me nearly #800 quid for a new clutch, Which by the way was still in warranty! The service manager looked like Fagin from oliver when i handed him my Visa card.

The one thing i learned from my 5 years oF owning a GS 1200 Adventure, Is that they are not the continent eating rugged adventure bikes as advertised they need to be pampered after a long run on winters day, They need to be completely washed down [ Cold, so let it sit for a few hours ] then only use bmw recommended cleaning products . The reality is that most BMW riders store their bikes for winter and BMW know this.

Overpriced And Greedy

I have owned BMW motorcycles for the past 10 years or more. Ocean have the monopoly for BMW bikes and servicing around here. At present they charge £72 per hour + VAT, so out of your pocket comes just over £86 per hour. This was the price charge at my latest service today and I've decided to go and look elsewhere for the servicing for my bike. Added to this I've owned three BMW bikes in the past, when buying/selling I've given Ocean the chance to deal but on each occasion they've wanted more than top dollar and been prepared to give less than trade for both px's and cash deals. As a result Clarks BMW in Birmingham and Vines in Guildford have benefitted well from my custom. That has still left me with having to have my bike serviced with them, there has been quite a litany of errors such as getting the dates wrong in the diary (I have a round trip of 130 miles to them so it has a big effect). They tried to overcharge me by about £100 on my last service. On one occasion I'd just had a puncture and had the tyre replaced when the bike went in for service, they told me that I needed a new tyre even though the actual tyre was so new it had the yellow chalk marks on it! I also had to really argue my case very strongly even to get work done on my latest bike when it was inside the warranty period. They have a poster outside their showroom that says 'Think we're pricey? Think again' well I think not. I'm going to have a good look elsewhere and will only use this shower if I really have to.

Placed my views prior to this on their facebook page which invited customer feedback only to have it deleted and then banned from future use. So much for free speech. Had the opportunity to discuss with manager Mr Cramp who has to be fair admitted some failings but certainly not all. Wont accept the pricing is out though even though 50% more than Japanese bike dealers. Stand fully by what I've said above and will still be looking elsewhere I feel.

What A Let Down

I have never had a satisfactory visit to Ocean BMW Motorad. They charge for work they have not done, the work is shoddy and has to be redone, they say things need to be changed as they are beyond their service limits when they are well within. They insult your intelligence by suggesting that a time served aircraft engineer wouldn't be able to diagnose a worn bearing assembly, they then charge for work that is covered by the BMW Motorad warranty and then say I will have to take it up with them. They claim to have checked a recall item and then I find it has not been done. When it was done (brake line) they charged me for the fluid. They say that the intermittent misfire is characteristic of the bike. Well no actually it is characteristic of a broken stick coil.

I only used them for three, yes three services as I worked in Plymouth. I now travel 70 miles (40 further that Plymouth) to CWs in Dorchester and have had nothing but cooperative and excellent service.

They Are The Only Bmw In Plymouth, Just As Well For Them

Everything I had heard about this company is bad. I had been told about their attitude, the lack of service. What I know from my own previous experience, is about their uncompetitive prices. When I bought my bike, I was given a price by them for a preregistered, previous year's bike, and then CW in Dorchester undercut them with a lower price on a new bike

Unfortunately Ocean are the only BMW dealer in Plymouth and so with some misgivings I went to them. I asked them to give me a valuation for my bike, I understood them to say that mine would be a bike that they would be interested in buying and they took the bike in to carry out a service and give me a valuation. I heard nothing for three weeks. I called and was told that the people who needed to make any decision were on holiday. I have been called by them today telling me that mine is not (after all) a bike that they want to keep in stock. So I have been kept waiting weeks for them to look at a bike that they are not interested in. It seems that the only thing that they are interested in is getting me to get as much work done on it as they can and then leaving me to my own devices.

If People Living Down In Plymouth That Ocean Are N

If people living down in Plymouth that Ocean are not the best then have a look anywhere in the UK, I am in the midlands and will not use any of the BMW dealers here.

I found them first class and the best BMW dealer i have come across in the UK.

Just BMW UK cant match the dealers in Europe.

Since Peter Left [the Last Motorcycle Manager] In

Since Peter left [the last motorcycle manager] in my opinion Ocean has lost a lot of it's sparkle,i remember Bill Stacey-Noris saying to me this was the start of my relationship with Ocean after i'd given them the best part of 14k,yea right!I get the distinctive impression that everybody skuttles away when i show my face, perhaps i dont wear the right aftershave!Anyway other than 1 salesman i wont name no-one seem's very happy, not to mention the price of servicing, that's a joke, the mechanics are cooperative and freindly so it must be company policy to fleece the public after they've spent a shed load of money on a new bike.Never again, sold my bike and bought an old beemer, great bike and service it myself very cheeply.

Well, They Say You Should Speak As You Find And I

Well, they say you should speak as you find and I have to say that I found the staff at Ocean to be friendly, professional and efficient. All too often people are too quick to complain about stuff without giving them a chance to put things right. we are all human right?

Anyway, my advice is to go along and speak to the guys, they genuinely seem interested in doing things right and i think that should be recognised.

Besides, I got a great deal ans they have great coffee too.
