Auction Buyer Beware
being a motor engineer for 40 yrs and having purchased thousands of cars at auction i must advise against this auction site as they use sharp practice and from the way the cars are presented to the fees firstly they start and drive the cars into the ring very quickly to avoid you getting the chance to check under bonnet ect or checking the clutch ect and even if you are then bold enough to buy a vehicle the fees are a joke so my advice is to stay away and let them keep the junk vehicles a few weeks of not selling will bring big change to these merchants i seen a range rover that a private buyer had just paid £14000 300 yds down the road that needed a new engine this is what you get from central car auctions best of luck
I agree. I went today 20 mins before auction time and was not given the key to a car. The woman said auction is about to start. That car did not come up for auction till 2:15pm - number 20138 - the auction started at 12pm.
I did not buy the car. It sold for £2200. The fees i would have had to pay have £390 plus vat.
They collect the fees from both sellers and buyers.
Better than Mafia.

Fees Are A Disgrace
Bought a car, and generally speaking I know way around cars. Car was great and the hammer price was great. BUT.
The fees for a car UNDER 300 pounds were 280, plus a few of £25 plus vat for admin fees related to a v5. £30 to send a v5 is a disgrace, what makes it worse is that 7 weeks after buying it I was told it was still in the office. I mean a 50p stamp at most.
Outrageous.

Deal With Great Caution
my son and i have dealt with central car auctions for a number of years.i regret no longer as we have been well and truelly stuffed by bidding to the wall by the auctioneers 2 outrageous charges over and above the purchase price.3 the same cars coming thro week after week.4 so many dubbed up vehicles by the main dealers.i have to say the prices you pay at central you would be better negotiating a deal with a main dealer,AVOID AVOID AVOID OR YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Be Very Careful Or You Could Die
This place is dangerous for a number of reasons.
The cars are usually rubbish and far too expensive.
The auctioneer will raise the price with 'ghost' bids from bidders that don't exist.
The fees are beyond silly. They even charge you more for paying in cash.
The main auction hall fills with exhaust fumes as there is no ventilation and you get carbon monoxide poisoning.
The food in the restaurant is terrible and uncooked chips are their favourite.
And the drivers moving the cars about are total idiots. I saw a old guy get run over in the auction hall yesterday!
To sum up.
Don't buy a car there unless you know exactly what you are doing.
MOTHERS. DO NOT take your kids there in prams as you are poisoning them.
And watch yourself or you will be run over and could die.
You have been warned!

Shiny Metal - Sick Engines; Extortionate Auction Fees
Non-trade buyers stay well clear! Hundreds of knackered engines here; the trade guys know the models to avoid and get much lower fees. Private buyers get totally thrashed with sky high fees. A lot of vehicles here with terminal £1000+ engine problems - if you could check the MOT advisories you wouldn't bid on anything. Remember - its only a bargain if you've got a mechanic mate who can fix it for parts cost. Labour costs for engine re-builds will be £800 to £1000. Stay away.

Excellent Service, Professional
After speaking to a local garage who told mecwhatto look for, bought a fantastic Lexus from Central Car Auction. I found the staff very helpful and friendly, particularly the staff in the office, if buying a car from an auction you must speak to someone who can tell you how it all works and what to look for....this is my second car from Central

Alway Check Engine Management Lights
Buyers be very very careful. Do what the dealers so - wait for staff to start the car up and ask to peer in at the dash to see what lights are up. This is VERY important as many cars here are the one REJECTED by Webuyanycar and others. Lots of faulty engines here.
Very high fees for private buyers - who pay indemnity AND buyers premium.
So £1300 WILL cost a private buyer circa £1500 with all the VAT added in to the fees.
My advice - use a dealer and test drive the hell out of car and then try to get the price down £150. This will be about what you'll end up paying at Central Car Auctions

Buyer Beware .
In the main a dumping ground for Scottish main dealers and the Glasgow car trade.Lots of polished metal and glass but underneath lurks the tails of seriously faulty cars doctored to look and drive all 200yrds at Central the staff are trained to put lights out i.e engine management lights a.b.s !!! equipped with low level code readers worn engines doctored with cheap engine addatives so buyer beware and read the small print very carefully.
Very well promoted modern auction hall and some bargains but they are a rare beast .

The Look Is Very Professional, staff Approach Arrog
THE LOOK IS VERY PROFESSIONAL,STAFF APPROACH ARROGANT AND AT TIMES PATRENISING,STARTING BIDS ARE PRE-SET BY THE AUCTIONEER SO YOU CANNOT EXACTLY BAG A BARGAIN,PRICES FOR AN AUCTION ARE HIGH BY BOOK TERMS OK IF SELLING DEFINATELY NOT FOR BUYING.THE CARS IN SCOTLAND ARE HOWEVER CHEAPER HERE THAN DOWN SOUTH SO MORE VISITORS FROM ENGLAND,WALES ETC WHO WILL PAY MORE LEAVING LITTLE FOR LOCAL CUSTOMERS,DEALERS,ETC CCA SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT IT WAS THE LOCAL CENTRAL BELT CUSTOMERS WHO HELPED THE BUISNESS GROW.THHE BOTTOM LINE IS IT IS FAST BECOMING APPARENT THAT THE MILLER FAMILY ARE BECOMING GREEDY BY SUCCESS.THE ANSWER IS NEED A CAR CHECK GUMTREE OR LOCAL PAPER DONT WASTE TIME AT CCA NO GOOD DEALS TO BE HAD.
yes buyer beware now a total rip off with fees and every add on they could think up my advice is to stay away and save your cash for a car you can check and test drive and i am car dealer for forty years so take my advice this auction is now a total rip off
