Take Care

Take Care.!

One business delaying another's start by supplying damaged goods - Dodgy sales covid hustle regs violators. £7400.paid for a usual priced £2500 ebay van at Merthyr vehicle auctions. £140k given to charity by them over time apparently but at what cost to buyers? The problem is hocking off for parts/scrap yard near vehicles as good when they are not, The ''sold as seen'' age-old mug off hoser chant = is not a legal term recognized. Worn out clutch ex-rental van not company as quoted & to add insult to mug off injury the supposed 6-month mech cover guy said they don't cover the clutch as it's seen as a consumable.! = rotten show. Fair play - Sale of Goods Act 1979 (SoGA) state that the goods are as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality.. FAILED ALL.!

Not even a hundred miles later the engines totally shot. they said we'd ran round everywhere in it while all the time it was laid up at the side of our house, 8k down with no help.

Cannot say what a pleasure to visit this auctions family run, welcoming and friendly. My Husband bought a van from them 7 years ago and is still going. They tell you straight if there is anything wrong with a vehicle. If there is something wrong they will go out of their way to rectify it if nothing major. Just travelled down there today all the way from North Wales to buy a car.It was checked over and they taxed it for us before driving home. They are lovely people and will go out of their way to answer any questions or concerns. Would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a car or van.

I bid on a vehicle in £50 increments. The auctioneer increased by £100’s! I terminated my bidding £400 before the auction ended but somehow i won it without bidding at £8000 instead of £7600 when I stopped. I had to pay a £500 auction fee immediately on the spot before realising I was being made a fool of. The vehicle is ok, but I’ve paid at or above the retail price on a tatty vehicle which is not a reason to go to auction. I would seek legal action if I knew how.In response to auctioneers.co.uk, thank you for your helpful response. As above mentioned, you increased in £100’s when I bid in £50’s. You’re excuse? I couldn’t be heard! If you couldn’t hear you couldn’t see me bid! Taking a non returnable auction fee within seconds of auction end is very obviously a well established 40 year method to make money before people realise what's happened. At which point it’s too late, you’ve already got the £500 while they still suffer with exhaust asphyxiation and not thinking straight enough to correctly judge you’re intentions. as for your method for charging people for spotter assistance and still gaining retail price or higher on vehicles that are half that cost in other settings astounds me. I was warned by other victims of yours before attending, but disregarded their poor experience as lack of auction experience “which I have plenty of” this is how I know what you’ve done.By the time you get your instant £500, it’s already too late for your customers. I hope you keep verifiable records and cctv evidence to prove my bidding at £8000, as this will be the grounds of my civil case which I will happily post the result of here.

Excellent, Knowledgable Staff, Easy Transaction.

Having never done online or phone bidding before, I contacted the person I dealt with via web chat and he explained how it all works. I then registered for the sale and had a spotter call me prior to the auction to explain how the telephone bidding would work. I then got a call just as my lot came up and managed to win the bid. They arranged transport at what I thought was a very reasonable cost and delivery within 2 days.

Anyone having reservations about using them I would highly recommend giving them a call as the staff are very friendly but professional.

I will definitely be using Merthyr Motor Auctions to buy all my future vehicles.

Fantastic Friendly Service

After months of looking for a Vauxhall Insignia we now have our perfect car and at the right price, right from the moment of walking through the pedestrian gate after a 2 hour drive we were treated to a friendly efficient service from some really polite gentlemen, who looked after us (called spotters) explaining all the process of buying with them and helping to set up the finance, the cafe was lovely and clean and a nice atmosphere to have a welcome cuppa (you can even have a delicious meal if hungry), even the loos are lovely and clean, my husband and I would recommend going to MMA's their range of ex fleet vehicles is quite extensive from ambulances to fire engines, vans and cars and from what I gather most have service history and have been well looked after, even had a warranty, we left leaving a bid on the car we wanted (the spotter even gave us an accurate price range) we were then phoned and given a 5 minute warning for when the car we liked was due to go through, our spotter then phoned when the car was going through the auction and we could hear the auction process and then great news the car is ours so we arranged to go and collect it the next day, we went up by train the next day (just so people know Merthyr Tydfil is the end of the line so there's no missing your stop) and we caught a taxi from the station to MMA which cost us £6 (bargain compared to the taxis around our area for the same journey) we were met by our spotter who took us through the paperwork step by step explaining everything in laymans terms, we then had another cuppa in their nice cafe we shook hands with our spotter and away we went in our lovely new car

Excellent Service Friendly Staff

I visited my first ever vehicle auction and asked for help to buy a Volvo V70 car which was previously an ambulance. The staff told me exactly what to do and the auctioneer even took the time to speak to me whilst I was waiting. To be honest if he hadn't spoken to me I would probably have left early as I did not have much knowledge what I was doing. When I picked the vehicle up the next day I had a bit of a wobble due to some minor issues on understanding the vehicle and the staff then came out and helped me again with fixing a few minor items.

I have already recommended MMA and will continue to do so.

On Line Bidding

Hi

I couldn't say enough about this company

I bought a 2010 vauxhall insignia for £4300 using the online spotter

I originally placed bids of £4500 on 4 cars but only needed 1, so instructed the spotter that when I bought 1 to withdraw all other bids

The spotter was fantastic and got the car for me at £4300

I was give all the info on the cars and photos before I placed the bids and when I collected the car a few days later the service was excellent

"Their was a queue of people collecting vehicles"

Everything about the car had been exactly as I was told even the scratch on the door.

I imported the car to Southern Ireland and had to pay duty on it so the total cost including flights, shipping and fees was €8000 and I've just had the car valued at €11000

I bought the car last November but waited until now to post a review just in case I had any problems

Very happy 10/10

I Saw This Business Advertising On Ebay Which Happ

I saw this business advertising on Ebay which happened to be a vehicle I was interested in. Not much info in the listing and only 2 poor quality pictures. I visited the site and the vehicle I was looking for was not even listed. Looking around not much info is available on any vehicle, here's the crunch. They want £10 a week to gain access to all data including pictures. So if you want to browse the listings you won't see much unless you don't mind paying the £10 a week. That's like having a box office to sell tickets to visit a car showroom. Don't these people make enough charging buyers and sellers or is this just greed. Well they say one is born every day, but this fool and his money are not easily parted.

I know they are fake reviews but does that really surprise you knowing their auction ethics.

They tried to have my original review taken down OH YES they were not happy at all with my honest feedback.

Because I proved what I wrote was indeed the way this outfit operates so the review stayed.

But what do you know weeks later I noticed a swarm of fake positive reviews, in an attempt to smother mine, but it doesn't matter if mine stops one person from a bad experience it was worth it

VanBooter

This is a common practice for some unscrupulous auction houses such as merthyr motor auctions it's commonly known as bidding against the wall.

It's a way of reaching their required target when the auction comes to a standstill. Their claim on ebay about buying vehicles for under market value is only obtained if you have reached it's reserve and are prepared to accept the vehicle they are offering because it will only be worth that amount because of condition, high mileage, etc.

In other words there is nothing to be gained by using Merthyr Motor Auctions, you will only get a vehicle for what it's worth, and if you are really unlucky a vehicle which you will regret buying from day1

Defraudedidiot

I agree, also they obviously fake review themselves 5* a lot while actively having poor reviews removed “like they just did with mine” by complaining.

I have lodged an official complaint with reviewcentre demanding they look into it.

I gave up on Merthyr Motor Auctions, after buying a few vehicles from there. Their additional fees are very high (they say the vehicles are ex-council/authority, but you have to pay an indemnity fee just in case the seller doesn't have the right to sell it) surely if the vehicles are ex-authority vehicles, there should not be an issue about needing an indemnity cover?

You can sometimes get an affordable vehicle there, but they know the values of the popular vans and minibuses, they won't let them go for one bid.

Their auction room is an L shape, and you will often find there's a 'bidder' just around the corner that you can't see, knocking the price up (but they didn't realise my brother was on the other side of the room and he couldn't see anyone else bidding!

VanBooter

You just confirmed what I originally posted so there is no wrong about it. The charge was £10 to view the details of the vehicle I was interested in at that time.

That charge only lasts 1 week I think you failed to remember that, so if I was outbid and saw another Fiesta 2 weeks later then I would be required to hand over another £10 to view the details.

So you say it give you access to the whole site, well why on earth would I be wanting to waste time looking at other lots I'm a private buyer not a dealer. If I was interested in a red Ford Fiesta why would I be wanting to look at a Renault or a Datsun or any other make?

Personally I would never buy a car on the pictures alone, neither would I use a spotter to bid on it, too many conflicts of interest, but glad you are pleased with your purchase, many who buy at auctions are not.

I just find it strange that Ebay allows advertisers to upload 12 pictures per listing and to enter as much details as they like, but these people just upload a low resolution picture adorned with graffiti which is nothing more than an advertisement to visit there website for less info.... well unless you pay up!
