Metzeler Z6 Tyres. Excellent All Rounder, Now Good Value.

Bikes ---

(1) BMW R850R, 2 sets of Z6s in succession, fronts lasted 11,800 and 12,400 miles, rears lasted 7,800 and something over 6400 miles (sold the bike at that time.)

(2)Moto Guzzi Breva 1200. the front has done 9800 miles and is now finished, rear 6000 miles and still fair.

Comments. -- I am a mature long distance rider, reasonable speeds and sporty but not lunatic cornering. Cautious and smooth in the wet.

--- Important point --The Z6 proved a very suitable tyre for both these bikes, very neutral handling, easy into and out of corners.

---The front wore both on the sides from cornering and the centre from braking, so stayed the same profile ,-- the rear wore flatter from acceleration than the sides from cornering. Noticeable as they wore but very small change in characteristics when cornering

--- Of it's day superb handling in the wet. Even now very good in the wet, excellent tread patterns front and rear for dispersing water.

--- now, 2017, although the first generation of Metzeler Roadtec's they are still a very, very good tyre ---still selling and now really good value.

I continue to fit them.

( The new Roadtec 01 should be a fantastic tyre with the same characteristics but better dual rubber --- but currently very pricy)

Looked Good At 13000km. Cord Showing At 14,100km.

R1200R. No wear indicators. Do not get caught out.

Have been caught out with spinning the rear on roundabouts under very modest throttle.....pucker moments.

Great Tire And Value

I have these on my 99 ZRX 1100. It is a heavy super-bike with 125 hp at the rear wheel. On my 3 rd set now. Last set I got 16,400 km and I do like using the wrist. In the rain I am very confident while inflating 32/36. They do not require more than 1 oz of weights.

Do Not Inspire Confidance

I think everyone eles who has rewied these tyres must be compareing then to old nylon tyers i have had 10 or 15 bikes and average over 1000 miles a month and in the wet the rear will spin up under a qaurt of throttel on my zed in the dry punch it and rather than gettin front wheel lift u get fast burnouts and millage wise they last 2200miles for fast road rideing and comuting i wouldnt recomend them they feel like a poor quality budget tyer

Put a rear tyre on today due to puncture (on the motorway = misery), replacing the OE Bridgestone Battlax BT56 - what a difference. I knew the Battlax wasn't up to much but this tyre has transformed my bike (GT650R). Unable to comment on longevity as its brand new, but the handling is fab. To compound my misery, it rained all the 35 mile journey home so can report the grip is pretty good in the wet, too!

Fitted The Z6 Interact Tires Around 4000km Ago And

Fitted the Z6 Interact tires around 4000km ago and they're still as good as they were when they were worn in. I've ridden them through the New Zealand winter and they offer ots of grip in the wet and loose shingle that they spread on NZ roads during the icier months. Can't wait to give them a good thrashing over the summer!

I've had the Metzeler Roadtec Z6's (not the Interact version) on a TDM900 and a BMW K1200RS and the tyre has been excellent on both. The BMW will cause a bit of slip if you gun the throttle in second in the wet (I think most tyres would) but other than that it's great.

The difference in handling on the BMW over the fitted 020's was incredible. It's turned the bike into a much more rideable one, it seems like a different bike to me.

Wear is good on both bikes, not having wear indicators in the middle is a pain but overall, it's a great touring tyre.

I've tried Z6, Bt-020, BT-021, PR2 in the sport touring class, with Pan European 1300, FJR 1300 and GTR 1400. I think they're the better tyres in overal.

They lack a bit of grip in dry and hot roads comparing to BT-020, BT-021 or PR2, but they're the best in the wet, they're very confident and the stability at high speed is superb. The all new Z6 INTERACT will be placed tomorrow in my GTR 1400. With more 35% of silica, they should be the BEST.
