Metzeler Tourance Next

I ride a GS Adventure on long tours with luggage and decided to replace my front Metzeler Tourance Next with another one as I had c 2500 km ride and probably less than that tread left. I intended to retain the used tyre as a spare as not had issues and they were recommended by many. Once replaced I saw hollows and splits in the tyre case along the tread grooves - potentially lethal. I had specifically asked for this tyre but the fitter said that they would have recommended an alternative if I had not asked for these. Metzeler accountants are going to screw the brand I think..
