Mercedes Benz A Class 170d Avantgarde

I love my A class! (the only thing I'd want in the next one, is the leather option for the seats).

Pros:

Driving height, and being able to see more around you

Comfortable

Ease of use

Excellent steering wheel controls - thoroughly recommend the blue tooth phone connection option

Economical (even around town!)

Cons:

Servicing is quite expensive

As comfortable as the original 190 I bought nearly 20 years' ago!

Good points for this A170 cdi is Economy to run

Bad points is The Engine maintenance is very expensive due to bad design.

I had all injectors removed and replaced them; it took 8 hours to replace them and it cost me £1399 and this job can only be done at Mercedes benz centre. After 1 year they need replacing again.

A-frame pillars very wide and leaning in. On several occasions cars and pedestrians approached from the right and were hidden behind the pillars.

Engine maintenance very expensive due to bad design, number one injector cannot be removed without removing turbo first. I ended with a bill for over £1000 for a job that would have cost £250 on any other car.

Poor resale value.

If you take my advice, you wouldn't touch one of these with a barge pole. Worst car I have ever owned.

Great little car the Mercedes A170d Avantgarde. For its size can cram as much into it as a bigger car. Returns over 50mpg (and cheap to insure) but need the Avantgarde spec to get any sort of luxury inside the cabin. Good driving position - quite high above the road.

Fine to drive on the motorway - not an involving drive but always feel safe at speed. Diesel engine great once you get going - not so good when moving off. Brakes are good but not brilliant.

Have found Mecedes dealers to be very sloppy. Car has been returned to me in a worse state than when I gave it to them! And they charge £90 an hour. This would bethe only reason why I would not buy another Mercedes...
