Very Good, Very Simple Car
This is the second carisma, the first one was with the GDI engine, now with diesel DiD , GDI easily achieve 56-55 mpg on motorway, in the urban cycle 38-34 MPG not bad for a petrol engine. DiD Carisma 65-53 MPG on the motorway. what is wrong is poor rear visibility, boring, spartan interior, rear shelf folding problem - you need to fold the seat first. still talking about a simple car ...

Holland Built Semi-volvo-s40-v40 Ever Running Car.......
My Carisma is built in 2003, Born the Netherlands. 1.9 DID renault diesel. With a turbo on it. The car had 178.000 km on it when I bought it. It is quite strong and heavy compared to earlier cars but handles easily. The car had been used by police in Netherlands. The trick was that I bought the car just before the timingbelt had to be replaced at 180K km, no nice surprise.
For the distance I drive, 30 000 km a year, it is a good choice. Even though every year something big breaks down, like an air-mass-meter, a waterpomp.
With the tires Energy savers from Michelin (15inch), a moderate way of driving and a smooth track (a few traffick lights) the average fuel consumption is 1 liter for 20 km.
With winter tyres the fuel consumption is around 1 liter for 18 km.
That is with the airco switched off, it slows the car, it limits the accelaration.
For the rest, it is quite a good car.
Now the car is at 270 000 km. For the future it will run something like 150 000 more possibly. There are Volvo V40 - S40 cars with same engine that are on the market with around 400 000 km on it. So hope for the best.
