The Main Weakness Of This Rover 214 Is That The He
The main weakness of this Rover 214 is that the headgasket goes very easily n quickly, u have to make sure the cars had it changed befor you buy it if the mileage is over 70000 miles which most of these type of cars have already covered. My 214sei had already done double that mileage when i bought it and had the headgasket done at 72000 miles. 2weeks after id bought the car it needed doin again but being a mechanic by trade i was able to fix myself with abit of help by a friend. I only purchased the car for 220 pounds (uk). The new headgasket set and stretch bolts timing belts n fan belts included cost around 200 pounds in all. But now its all fixed and its a wikid car i would defo recomend to a friend.

I Bought My Rover 214 Sei 16v As A First Car, It W
I bought my Rover 214 SEi 16V as a first car, it was second hand and had really high milage on it, but it cost £110 and it was only ever supposed to be an "interim" car while i saved up for a "decent" one. That was 4 years ago, and ive never been inspired to replace it. Ive driven it daily for the last 4 years, and although there are things which have gone wrong with it, its been incredibly cheap to repair (as breakers yards always seem to have parts in good nick for that model of rover). Quite prone to battery issues(if not driven frequently) and I have had to relpace the power steering rack on mine, but even that only cost £70 to replace and fit!
Its remarkably fast off the mark for an old car and it is the sturdiest and safest car i've ever driven. (t the beginning of this year, i was run into by a HGV, which pulled into the side of the rover and then rammed it from the back several times. I honestly expected the car to have been a write off, but when i got out to inspect it, the only damage was some scratches and paint transfer!!)I would strongly recommend that anyone who is looking for a first car buys one, great on fuel consumption, cheap to tax and MOT and even with high milage, they just keep going!

I've Had Two Rover 200s One A 1.4 The Other A 1.6
I've had two rover 200s one a 1.4 the other a 1.6 honda engine. The 1.4 I paid £150 for and it lasted me four years. The 1.,6 died prematurely after a severe disagreement with a deer. For the money, no car is better. They are cheap to buy and run and have a cracking engine and good equipment levels. Miles better than an escort or astra of the same time, but has a few bad points. It's no longer up to date, feels old, don't get one without power steering

Bought a 214sei on an N reg (1996) its simply the best car I've ever had. nippy, smooth to drive & really economical. The half leather interior is comfy & smart to look at. If your thinking of buying one, think no more & just go out & buy one. You won't regret it.

Cheap To Run, And Mine Is Still In Good Nick After
Cheap to run, and mine is still in good nick after I've had my M reg Rover for 2 and a half years now.
It's an excellent first car for me - not that 'nippy' but certainly built like a brick and makes me feel safe when on my own. It's comfortable enough (in the front anyway) and I've even moved all my 'student' belongings in one go, using the boot space and back seat!

I love the Rover 214. It is really comfortable, cheap to run and you can still have a bit of fun with it. The leather interior and electrics are better than what you find in a lot of modern cars. It is now starting to look a bit dated externally but for me this adds to the charm. People looking on dont know just what a good car I own and it costs nothing to keep on the road.

I Currently Run A 1994 5 Door 214sei, And Simply P
I currently run a 1994 5 door 214SEi, and simply put is the best car I've ever owned.
The Rover K-series engine is gutsy, loves to rev, and is economical on a run (45-50 mpg at 75-80MPH)
The seats are so comfortable its untrue, especially as a sciatica sufferer!
I have Electric Front Windows, and sunroof also remote central locking and immobiliser.
This is my third Rover and I would throughly recommend them to anyone.
