Rover 45 1.6 16v Classic
I think these cars are understated,i have been driving now for some 39 years now and i have had a lot of differant cars. But this one has got to be the best so far its reliable comfortable and economic the engine is both responsive and liverly. The ride is nice and smooth and you get the feeling that you could drive for any distance without getting that crampted feeling that you sometimes get with other cars of the same size. The boot is nice and roomy and as for the K series engine suffing from head gasket problems, this was resolved back in 1997 with the fitting off metal dowls and a new desighn head gasket. But if the engine is serviced regularly then you will not have any problems.Mine has covered 104230 miles and still runs as good as the day it left the factory. So i give this car the thumbs up and would recommend this car to anyone.WELL DONE ROVER.

I owned this car a 1.6 club se for two years a couple of years ago,I originally set out to buy a 1.8 zs but found the ride too harsh. After test driving a few other cars I saw this blue 2004,45 it had just come in unprepped and dirty with 10,000 miles. On the test drive I was amazed at how smooth and comfortable it was,a deal was done,a week later I picked it up serviced and valleted driving the 50 miles home up the A40 I was supprised how quick the car was between 50 and 80 in top gear.this car gave me no problems at all returned 40 mpg whatever and was extremely comfortable,so why did I sell this underated car for an overated car simple horror stories of HGF got through to me and I changed it for a German car that runs exactly the same but cost twice as much to buy, what a mug.

The Rover Is Good The Performance Is Brilliant Fro
the rover is good the performance is brilliant from a 1.6 few cars can beat it but the only problem is the head gasket any car with the k series engine has head gasket trouble that can cost £600 MAKE SURE ITS BEEN DONE BEFORE BUYING. The car picks up good. rear leg room is not the best in class but the boot is good. I even think it looks sporty as this one has a spoiler and front fogs i dont see it as an old persons car. I have had trouble recently with starting it in the morning due to damp weather. the interior feels good even though you stick to the velor seat but it is comfortable and well equipt.

I Got My 51 Plate Rover 45 Ie 16v 1.4 In July This
I got my 51 plate Rover 45 ie 16v 1.4 in July this year 2008 of eBay. It was salvage repairable it had a bump to the back, but it has been fixed professionally. It ' s not a fast zoom car like 2.0v6 on anything but mine did do great on the M4 after I picked it up from the seller. From Bournemouth I drove at about 70 to 75mph on the way back to Wales and I must say it's a very smooth and quiet ride indeed, economical to, with the medium sized 1.4 engine. Overall a very good car won ' t blow its gasket as long as you maintain it and look after it. And a very smart car from Rover what with the chrome finish and walnut interior.

Nice car overall, Got a 1.4 Rover 45 1.6. They're selling for half of nothing at the moment because people are afraid to buy them due to Rover closed down and they think they might not be able to get parts for them but you can still get parts for classic cars so I wouldn't worry. Common fault with Rovers is the Head gasket goes on them. But maintained well it should be alright.

Having To Downgrade From A Company Provided 2ltr G
Having to downgrade from a Company provided 2ltr Ghia Ford Focus Estate, a quick walk around some showrooms and i spotted a lonely Rover 45 5dr 1.6 XS 16v. The sales people didnt even know they had it (the car had arrived that day) Having had a Rover 400 1.6 (still have somewhere! but thats another story!) Now there are good tales and bad tales about Rovers offering of the 45. The car was a reasonably high mileage (40k) vehicle but the price was right (low) and after checking it had been dealer maintained throughout and still had 6 months manufacturers warranty, so money changed hands.
4 months later and 8k miles later, was it a wise buy? Well yes the air conditioning unit packed in but a quick visit to a Main Dealer fixed that same day under warranty, they even valeted the car free! Yes it is not as quick as the 2ltr Focus, saying that it beats 1.6ltr equivalents including the Focus. It might be an older model but now i've got used to its quirks (like to get best acceleration out of it hit the revs!) The car certainly seems to fit the bill. Recommend it ........... Yes certainly (By the way my 400 was a four door saloon version and this 45 5 door version certainly handles totally differently. It is much more sure footed around corners at speed!)
Well 2 yrs on, one water pump, one cylinder head............ last two MOT's only needed a bulb replaced oh and the car has now down 93500 miles.......... The Car has been a very good work horse!!! Plenty of life left in her yet!!!
