Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDi

Changing my Skoda Fabia 3 1.9 tdi for an Octavia purely because I want to put golf clubs in the rear without having to put the back seats down and exposing the clubs etc. to the world. It has been a great car. I am 6' 2" and it is very comfortable to drive and good fun. Not the most exciting interior compared to other makes but function, reliabilty (except for power steering failure after a week), and practicality are excellent. A couple of things I would change, especially in the top model. Either change the design of the centre consol or add soft furnishings to the edges, as my knees rub against it and the edges are quite hard. Similarly, change the material on the door arm rest for the same reason. When it is raining hard the water seems to bounce off the door pillar and streams across the off-side mirror making it very difficult to see what is coming on the off-side. Overall a great car that is bigger than it looks.

4 and a half years old, 200000 Kms on the dial, lots of rough rides, dirt roads, winter & snow. Chip tuned to 136 HP it takes 5,3 l/100km on average. No faults, first brake discs, first shocks, only 2 bulbs gone dead (havin' lights on all the time). Boot big enough for 3 on a long trip with lots of gear.

I bought my 51 reg Skoda Fabia confort estate a year ago. It's the best car I ever owned! A year on I'm still amazed buy the size of the boot, especially when the middle seats are folded down. People laugh at Skodas because they are ignorant: it's a VW car without the big price tag and insurance is so much cheaper than a VW Polo (same chasis).

Incredible workhorse. I do a very large number of miles across very poor cross country East Anglian roads and this is the second car of this type I have bought. It has only ever broken down once when a rat got in the engine compartment and wrapped itself around the drive belt (which is hardly the car's fault) so I have no hesitation is recommending this car to anyone. I have the estate which gives me slightly more room when I need it which is surprisingly often.

An excellent car, which to be frank is a VW only in Czech clothes but for at least £2000 less on price.

I've had this Skoda Fabia 1.9 TDi since new. At the point of doing test drives I almost got a Toyota Corolla mainly because of its reliability, but it had a titchy boot. I went into the Skoda garage and was amazed at Fabia Elegance Estate TDI. Okay, it doesn't have such a comfy interior as the Toyota, but once I'd felt the exhilarating acceleration of the Fabia TDI (by comparison that is), there was no going back. I'm really pleased overall, apart from the odd slightly dodgy electrical fault that was easily put right.

I purchased a brand new Skoda Fabia Estate 1.9tdi Elegance two weeks ago.

Despite waiting ages for it (15 weeks due to wanting a sun roof), the car is brilliant.

Boot is huge for the size of the car.

Acceleration on the motorway is rapid and brakes stop it just as well.

Averaged 52 mpg over all types of road during the first 300 miles - can not complain at that.

Interior is functional, solid but a little bland - but thats a good thing as far as i am concerned.

Heated seats are superb.

Only minor gripe aside the wait is that the door handles are not body coloured but I can live with that.

This is a first rate car for the money.

Had the Skoda 1.9TDi 1898CC from new and never had a day's trouble with it. It is extremely economical in terms of fuel costs. It has plenty of power under the hood and you can expect an extremely smooth ride. The car is well designed with several thoughtful touches (e.g. even a plastic bracket on the windscreen to hold car parking tickets etc.). People still tend to laugh if you own a Skoda... this is purely based on ignorance... most Skoda owners are more than happy with their cars.
