I Bought The Skoda Octavia Second Hand And Was Rea
I bought the Skoda Octavia second hand and was really pleased with it, until it rained. I was parked on a slight slope facing downwards, I lifted the tailgate and found all this rainwater deluge as described. It sits in the side channels and there is no drainage.
I emailed Skoda complaining bitterly and asked if there was any modification for this and was told emphatically NO!
I think the only answer is to park uphill in the rain and then drive off a distance before stopping and then lifting the boot lid.

The Skoda Octavia 1.8 20svx is a Great Car, Looks good, and feels great to drive.
Engine and handling is superb! The build quality is excellent and lift the hood and you can realise it's a tough car. The suspension and ideally tweaked to suit all road conditions..

I Agree That The Skoda Octavia Is A Fantastic All
I agree that the Skoda Octavia is a fantastic all round car (i have the 2.0 SLXi)
Performance is good. Based on the Golf running gear but bigger, not quite a Passat. All the reviews have been good and the build quality is great.

I Am From India And Over Here Skoda Is Brand New.
i am from india and over here skoda is brand new. i sell skodas actually so i do have that bias when it comes to talking about the skoda octavia. here we get the 1.9tdi sedan and the 2.0 ltr petrol and seriously, the car rocks. fantastic engine. although the petrol variant has a lot to work on that 2nd gear sluggishness. diesel is awesome. fantastic fuel efficiency and amazing boot space. guys at skoda should do something abt that cramped rear seating. people who come to test drive the car complain much about the same. but anybody who can ignore that minor detail should just go for this car. value for money for years.

I Can Remember When Skodas Were The Subject Of Man
I can remember when Skodas were the subject of many jokes, fortunately the tag no longer applies.
Since the VW buyout these cars have received excellent reviews, the Octavia in particular. This car is more or less a rebadged Passat, the looks, and running gear are similar and the top range models share the same engine.
Spec is excellent, electric everything, PAS, ABS, AC twin airbags etc. Performance from the 125BHP is more than acceptable and is enough to leave the boy racers in their souped up fiestas trailing in your wake.
I have to say this is the best car I have ever owned and I've had a few so far.
Definitely recommend one

I agree that Skoda is a reborn marque and that the Octovia has received rave reviews. However, with regard to your comment that the model is virtually a re-badged Passat, the car is actually based on the Golf platform - which is probably why you find the space in the rear a little cramped.
