My Terrible Vauxall Astra 2004

I brought my 54 Plate Vauxall Astra 1.6 Sxi Twinport (newer shape) about 2 months ago, i have now sold it i hated everything about the cae other than how it looked very smart looking car with sporty looks, every time i started the car the engine management light would come on i took to a garage about 4 times and each time they couldnt find the problem. Then a few days later they emmision light kept coming on i again took it to a garage and they still didnt know what was wrong with it (very annoying) i then drove the car about 50 miles on aday out but when i got back the car was completely empty of oil i took it to the garage after filling it up again and it burnt the oil again the garage said there was nothing they could do i would just have to keep topping the oil up. So in the whole 2 month i owned the car it used 12 liters of oil so i decided to sell the car and i have now brought a great car which i love i will never buy a Vauxall again!!! Thanks for reading...

Go Get One

i bought my 1.6 16v sxi about a year ago, its an x reg 2000 when bought it had around 90.000 on the clock and a year later just approaching 100,

this car i highly rate, ive had the usual xr3i,s cavalier sri,s focuses an mondeo,s but i have to say the astra is a much all round better car, ive never had any trouble at all and allways start regardless of the weather, you have enougth room for your family and does indeed drive very smoothly with allways a smooth gear change and when the litluns not with you and the need calls for it what do ya know the sxi wants to play aswell, the roadholding is very good and i believe handles better than a focus and it also excelerates very well , the build feels more solid than a ford, so if your thinking of getting one then go for it, with this car you get to be responsible and have fun at the same time. highly recomended.

I Have A 1.6 8v 2000 Model Astra. It Has Run Fine

I have a 1.6 8V 2000 model Astra. It has run fine without issue since buying it with 48000 on the clock. However now it has 84000 and parts require replacing have included new timing belt and water pump at 64000.In the last 6 months it has had new front brakes, rear shockers and a full exhaust replacement. The only annoyance is a occasional humming from the driver rear wheels. Its either the wheel bearing or the tyres according to the forums. Overall it is an easy car to drive and providing you dont floor it the car will average 38 mpg.

Here's a list of parts that have been replaced, both have had discs, coil packs {approx 100,000mls} car (a) middle exhaust box(original) chaged at 130,000mls!!! cat at 90000mls.Car (b) still on original clutch and cat {and this is the wife's car!!}Both had nsf wheel bearings 100,000mls approx, both had exhaust recirc valves 80,000mls both thermostats 110,000mls,both have rear springs after approx 6 years. Not A Very Comfortable Ride. Gear Stick Knob

Not a very comfortable ride.

Gear stick knob became loose while still in the 3 year warranty, vauxhall UK said it came under trim, and would`nt replace or repair it, also said we had treated it roughly.

Rear back lights steams up in damp weather.

Interior also steams up in damp weather, unless using heater fan.

I will not be buying any vauxhall ever again.

PS the warranty is not worth the paper it`s printed on.

I Have Had This Car For A While Now And I Have Had

I have had this car for a while now and I have had no great problems with it. I purchased it with 80,000 miles on the clock and it seemed to be running well still.

The performance is good and the insurance is cheap.

Boot space is great, lots of room in the boot for most things. The back seat fold down for more if needed. If you want to store stuff in the back without folding the seats down, it is sometimes awkward fitting them in.

Petrol consumption is average. Much better on long distances, I managed 400 miles to a tank, and I could stretch it out a lot more with an 'eco' drive in mind.

Great car, practical and has done me well. I would recommend as you can pick these up for cheap nowdays.

When I Purchased This Car Over A Year Ago, I Made

When I purchased this car over a year ago, I made the mistake of the minority of a potential car buyer! My Astra is a Cat C (repaired and insured). I travel 100 miles approx daily to work and this car has been solid as steel in and out!The interior has excellent build quality with great emphasis on minimal vibration both idle and motorway. Needless to say the buttons on the dash are a doodle (but slightly outdated). Performance wise, its excellent considering I hit the speedo at least 100mph on most cases. IMO the car is great looking and extremely reliable, and well built. My odometer is now ticking 90,000 and I have great confidence this will go past the 100 mark! Maintenance costs wise- only opened the bonnet on the day of purchase!I would hardly doubt my ex car (Fiat Bravo) non Cat C would be able to last half as long as this if I m being honest.

I wants sure whether I should have gone for the Astra or Golf, tbh I have no regrets about this car ! Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I Bought My Mk4 Astra 1.6 16v Sxi This Year For &p

I bought my MK4 Astra 1.6 16V SXi this year for £1500, it had a full years MOT and 5 months tax and only 90.000 on the clock which i think is good for an 8 year old car.

When i got into the car for the first time my thoughts towards the interior were still very modern for the age of the car and everything was easy to indentify. For a 2 door hatchback there is still quite a lot of room, i have a 10 month old child and have no problems getting her iun and out of her car seat in the back of the car, the boot is also surprisingly big enough to comfortably fit a pram and a months worth of shopping.

On the performance side of things i find this car remarkably quick and nippy, when you put your foot down the car reacts in the way all good cars should, the revs go up and the speedo goes up quickly! There is no lag between applying the foot power and receiving the power.

I would recommend this car to anyone my age (19) who might have children, even so! It is still a hot hatch and will be admired for years to come by the younger generations!!! 9/10 in my eyes!

I Think It's A Great Little Car, The Performance I

I think it's a great little car, the performance is not bad. I drive most of the time around town and the mpg is about 28. I have yet to take it on a long drive so can't comment. The only bad thing is the seats, I like them to recline a bit quicker.
